I think he got his big pay day and now its about protecting his health. His play dropped after Jerry gave him that contract during the Zeke holdout for absolutely no good reason.........and good for him. He worked his butt off and made his money in the NFL after that tragic injury. But i'm a cowboy fan first and he's trash on the field now.

Exactly. I said it the day it was announced. As soon as he signed the extension, his best days were behind him. We see it all the time, especially in Dallas because of how loyal Kerry is to his guys.

Since, we are copying and pasting from Lance Zierlein's analysis on NFL.com, I will copy and paste his strengths:
  • Excellent work ethic and is accomplishment-oriented on and off field.
  • Not at all out of place athletically in move from FCS to SEC.
  • Willing to play through pain.
  • Outstanding field range with explosive closing burst.
  • Comes from backside linebacker spot to make tackles near far sideline.
  • Agility to make sudden change of direction in pursuit.
  • Steps upfield to challenge block and push run back inside.
  • Capable of playing quickly off the block and making tackle.
  • Pocket navigation and acceleration to become dangerous blitzer.
  • Sticks and runs with pass-catching tight ends in coverage.
  • Instinctive and reactive when spot dropping.
  • Finished college with 26 passes defensed, including nine career interceptions.

Dallas got good value for him in the 4th round.
He probably could have anywhere from the late 2nd through the end of round 3.
Considering where he was drafted, probably the best value pick for Dallas outside of Parsons at 12.
His ceiling is much higher than Mr. Swipe.
This post pwns

OP was too lazy to offer any of his own opinions and instead did a cut and paste of the negative side of nfl.coms player profile and claimed it as his own

Weaknesses
  • Plays upright from the second level too often.
  • Doesn't appear to be a very quick processor from inside.
  • Early play quickness limited by excessive thinking.
  • Lacking patience necessary to decipher misdirection.
  • Loses pursuit leverage and occasionally overflows cutback lanes.
  • Needs to become more aggressive taking on blocks.
  • Gets outside shoulder covered more than he should.
  • Inconsistent reading lane choices and blocking scheme.
Basically, he's Jaylon Smith. Slow to diagnose and react....... easily fooled on misdirection....wrong lanes ect. I'm not sure this defense can have 2 LBs like this........
Whoever did this scouting report needs to get fired and that company or team needs to hire me. They definitely did not look at any film of Jabril Cox at NDSU or LSU.

He lasted because LSU DL sucked as many players like Selvin opted out. He had OL blasting him but still made plays. That is the first thing I look for in any football player...Is that player a play maker?

Does that player have the athleticism and speed to make plays at the next level? Jabril is 6-4-233, 4.5 40 yd time, 34" vertical jump.

9 interceptions and +16 sacks from a hybrid WLB and Slot S position in 4 years. Questions answered.

Well, then you should send a resume to NFL.com and to the scouting departments of the other 31 teams who passed on him 3+ times each.

I wish the kid well, but anything he did at NDSU is not as relavent as what he did at LSU. So, I posted his listed weaknesses. Someone else posted a link to his strengths. I'm focused on the reasons he dropped to the 4th round.
He dropped to the 4th because no one drafted him before us Pirdy dang simple

I understand and agree. We need to review strengths and weaknesses. But LSU stunk last year on defense (specifically DL), key players opted out, and he was still making plays and consider a leader.

Weakness he is not Levon Kirkland and needs DL to keep OL off him to make plays like he had at NDSU and like LSU had in 2019.

I totally disagree that nothing he did a NDSU matters. Tell that to Hollywood Henderson, Darius Leonard, Carson Wentz, Trey Lance, and ever other non division one (FBS) player that was drafted or played in the NFL.
