about as bizarre as the ol "tight windows" passing stat.
It needs context

All this proves is that the rankings are illegitimate. Jaylon was a huge part of our defense last season. The same defense that was, statistically, the worst in Cowboys history.

Oh yes he was horrendous at times. But I am willing to give him this year with a better scheme and better healthier surrounding players. As I think he was having his own health issues as well. He was a top 5 or so in the nfl in tackles so he wasn’t as bad as everyone makes him out to be.
It was the entire defense.

Exactly.. Jaylon gets pooped on for his play even rightfully so.. even though the numbers say he was the best thing we had.. Why aren't there 150 threads calling for all the players on the team who were ranked BELOW him to be|cut/traded/face the firing squad? All this anecdotal "he only makes tackles 8 yards down the field" reminds me of the "Dak and the offense only showed up in the 4th quarter down 20 points" argument.. Ignoring the fact that the Cowboys led two his five starts at halftime and had a 14-7 lead entering the second quarter against Cleveland. People get locked into their narratives and manufacture "statistics" to back them up. Again.. I am not arguing that Jaylon played great in 2020.. I just don't think he played anywhere near as bad as the Hate Jaylon crowd makes it out to be. But I also know that's never going to change.. Yes he stunk in 2020.. but frankly of all the guys on our defense.. he stunk the least.. Sorry if that collides with the prevailing narrative.. but it's just the truth. Now if he doesn't step it up SEVERAL notches in 2021 I will be leading the call to replace him. But I'm not shoveling dirt on anybody after the crapshow we were presented with in 2020. I cannot accept that is who these guys are.. I need to see it under more normal circumstances.. THen I will be convinced.

Dak has had slow starts the last few years, and he does rack up a bunch of stats in the 3rd and 4th. It is a trend if you watch the games. Points might not necessarily show that. If it is a low scoring game on both sides, it is still the cowboys offense not putting up points on a bunch of drives.

Hopefully, with additions to the defense, it helps Dak and the offense improve, and improves jaylons play as well. I would like the cowboys to lead in all 4 quarters at least 20-30% of all their games, and 20 percent where they lead in 3 quarters. Just some dominant games in all 4 quarters. Where they just destroy the other teams morale

As far as jaylon goes, if they keep him, they need to find a role where he gets back to where he was. Whether that is the addition of new players on the defense, or fine tuning what he is doing to help with his injury and skill sets.

By the looks of things, regardless of what we collectively think about Jaylon, he's likely to get another year to prove himself. Let's see how things go under Dan Quinn before assuming he's washed up. He'll have a simpler system to adjust to in 2021. Will that help? We'll see. Conditions were poor in 2020.
