FRISCO, Texas – New Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has wanted to coach Keanu Neal for a long time -- long before the Atlanta Falcons drafted Neal with the 17th overall pick in 2016 when Quinn was their head coach.

"He recruited me out of high school right before he went to the league," Neal said. "He was with Florida (as defensive coordinator) and then he recruited me. Once I got to Florida, he ended up going to the NFL, but I've known him since 2012 basically."

Neal became a Pro Bowl safety in Quinn's system with the Falcons. The Cowboys hired Quinn in January. They signed Neal to a one-year, $5 million deal in March.

Keanu Neal will pop folks! Many of his hits during his time in the NFL have been awesome!
He's got speed and physicality in spades! He's definitely likely to do the same for us!

If the coaches can figure out how to use the linebackers effectively, there is a high ceiling for the unit. We have a good mixture of run and pass defenders.

In that he's been a DB with limited range?
many SS/LB Hybrids have existed for decades and now being utilized as a specialty postion but its always been there ,

they are known as box safetys and while in other eras were too small to be LB now its no longer the case..hes got position flex and many others who have come in this offseason also have this..i like it ,

injuries' ravaged us last year and having interchangeable pieces all similar in talent level will go along way a better year for 2021..

Box safeties? Never heard of it. Did you just make that up?

I have some tempered enthusiasm as to how all of this will work. I want to see it on the field at TC and in some PS games. Sounds good from what I read so far.

I think we have seriously upgraded the talent in the back 7.
Now, if only the coaches can get them in the right positions and all on the same page?

This D needs some pop in it. Way too many finesse players.

Prefer him as a DB..we have LBers galore now who need the reps more than Neal.
