Pretty sure he gave us the lead, so what next? "Greg you gave us the lead after a rought start for you, so we're cutting you". I need to start day drinking
He missed 3 fg. Dallas would have had the lead & win for good before he finally made the last one.

The man stinks. Fortunately for him, there are no kickers available!

Jimmy Johnson wouldn’t of hesitated to fire his arse and bring in another kicker.

Our kicker had a rough night. That does not automatically mean you replace him, of course. It depends on several things. 1. Do you believe Zuerlein has a good chance to right the ship? 2. Who is available out there to replace him?

When you sign another kicker mid-season, you generally don't get a super elite one, but you can get a competent one, depending on what the market is like. Then again, Zuerlein may already be a competent kicker who just had an off night. If that's the case, it's probably not worth making the change. However, if he's a kicker who has hit the wall, that's another story. One remembers Vanderjagt. He was once a great kicker, but when we got him, he had hit the wall. Either his confidence was trashed or something had gone wrong with his body where he just couldn't do it anymore. At this point, I don't see proof that Zuerlein is a "hit the wall" kicker, but his bad performance last night is an eyebrow-raiser.

I'm also not up on what the free-agent kicker market is like right now. Anyone know? Anyone have an opinion?
we better have somebody ready to come in if this continues with him...this is not acceptable.

I dont replace him. Not yet anyway. Hit the clutch kick at the end. Was coming off injury and no preseason.

What I do though is start looking around for kickers. Another bad game and Im prepared and start trying out guys.

zuerline is a great kicker. Just needs to find his groove.

I can kick extra points over and over and I am freaking 50 years old this month.
You would definitely be an upgrade. I just don’t know if they have the cap room to sign you.

Jimmy would have cut the kicker and Fassel would have been sent packing with him. Fassel has came in and brought all of his guys with him. It hasn’t worked.

He wouldn’t have needed to hit a clutch kick at the end of the game if he would gave made his previous kicks. I am not going to give him any praise for getting out of a situation that he created.

Coming off of back surgery he was shaky. Give him another game or two because he looked better but they should at least be looking at who might be available just in case.

The special teams last year improved markedly from the years before so I think it has worked reasonably well. As for getting rid of Zuerlein I think it’s totally a knee jerk reaction to one bad performance. If there is someone a lot better available then sure, but Zuerlein is serviceable if not spectacular. If he continues to have bad games then replace him but after one game with no pre-season work it’s not the right decision.

maybe the ST coach next year needs to be evaluated, and if they are a better option, it should be done.

Problem is who do you replace him with? Any kicker that’s still available has had their share of inconsistencies. If he continues to yank chip shot FG’s and extra points we’ll have to make a move. We can’t keep going with him if his confidence becomes completely shot.

Well he may stink but they for whatever reason put faith in him, so there is/was zero chance he gets cut after 1 game. If this continues, of course he will get axed....

He looked scared, I saw no evidence of confidence. That doesn't mean he isn't going to hit most of them. It just means that he don't know which ones won't. That's not good.

I don't know what that means to give him another week. What if just has to kick 5 extra points. Does that mean we celebrate if he hits them all? Do we extend him another week?

So how would everyone feel about him hitting 3 out of 3 extra points and 3 out of 4 field goals, all inside the 40?

What about both extra points and 3 out of 5 field goals but the two he missed were 52 and 56 yard attempts?

We've had some really good kickers. we've had some that would miss and that would be a shock. We would have to check the stats to see the last time he missed. Guys like Bailey and Boniol.

Anyway, I think the Cowboys should bring in competition.

We should bring a kicker onto the PS.

Yes, actually I can. I play in an old man soccer league and we did this for fun the other night. I was a kicker in High School and played soccer for years. Still have a decent leg.
