several mistakes on this play, obviously Jarwin and his whiff. the guy has no idea on how to even set up for a block. he was straight up, with his feet right under him that didn't give him any strong base to get a push or be able to move laterally and he tries to set up on the wrong side of the defender. I mean you are in freaking NFL, just got paid handsomely, at least learn your craft a little. you are a TE and you should know basic blocking.
Zeke should have realized he is not going to win that foot race to the corner, as he said ball was also in the wrong hand. you are a big RB, so he should have gone north-south and try to plow his way through, minimally get closer to the end zone and give us a chance perhaps to go for it on 4th down. If you look you see Schultz (I think that's who it is) who was the inside shoulder of Jarwin, sets up real nice for the block, turns his body, has a nice base and holds his guy. if Zeke turned north-south and plowed he might have had a better angle because at that point jarwin was in position to block the DB....
lots of stupidity on this play. our players aren't very smart.
Zeke falling on his sword for Jarwin, which is what a leader does.
OL & TEs will reward him this week for that.
This exactly. Zeke needing to get the ball into his outside hand and fight through the DB is the only thing within Zeke's control on that play. Good on him for recognizing that and taking ownership of it. Doing so doesn't mean that Jarwin did his job, because he didn't.Interesting. Jarwin could have made the block, and Zeke can win 1:1 matchup. Another example of where multiple things can be true at the same time.
so here is the difference between being smart and not being smart. smart thing would have been to put pollard instead of zeke, given you were trying to run wide and needed the speed. again, wrong personnel grouping.....perhaps pollard with his speed would have made the corner....who knows. No question.. Zeke's mistake was being patient and trying to be "nifty" and "nimble" when he should have reverted to "plodding" and "straightahead" Zeke and run right at the guy. You don't always have to make a guy miss to gain yards. Sometimes you just need to play some big boy football. It doesn't just apply to the offensive line. The backs and receivers need to hear that message as well. One thing I didn't notice until today is that the DB already had Jarwin beat before Zeke ever got the ball. Again this harkens back to my disdain for the option play in this situation. Zeke's first step is to open up and the next two steps are moving back away from the line of scrimmage. The play took away his power.. Why do that? The guy's a north-south runner.. why FORCE him to run east-west?

Or call a run off the Left Tackle you know your best OL man.
I noticed the ball in the wrong hand during the game. It felt like he didn’t really care. I thought he should have tried to outrun the db and get around the corner to try and dive for the pylon.
Like everything else in football or life. You gotta want it. Clearly Jarwin didn't. Another NFL business decision
Both are right.
Jarwin should have made a better block and Zeke should have been able to fight off a DB.
mr IN---why they have Jarwin blocking when you got Shutlz who is real good blocker????...Jarwin never known for good blocking...ever...see that is mis-management of personnel
Yeah if you look at that play Tyron pushed his man a couple of yards off the ball. Problem was just about every other blocker missed.. Of course the DE was unblocked because he was the option man but the linebacker to the play side came free and of course the safety got around Jarwin with very little resistance. The DE fell trying to change direction after the pitch but the LB closed off any cutback thoughts as did Winfield the other safety. The only chance for success was going to be outside which is why Jarwin was supposed to get on his man and stay on him.. not tap him in the chest and then watch him go blow up the play.
WHAT??? It’s what this team needs more of ….. Jarwin ****** us out of a W with that PPP effort. Zeke still should’ve scored but 90%+ of the failure on that play was Jarwin’s.
Elliott is right, he could have done more but anyone with a brain could see it was mostly the combination of a great defensive play and an absolute garbage block.
Shultz was there and yes, he got his "inside" seal block. Jarwin just didn't execute nor did Zeke put himself in the best position with his angle. If either happen, we probably aren't talking about this play.
