... I just heard Steve Young give Dallas not much credit last two games. He thinks Dallas still inconsistent. You wonder if dude, is still bitter from whoop *** 90's Dallas gave him..;)...

Loved those 90's teams and what we did to the 49ers to revenge the catch in '82. That said, the last time Young played us in a meaningful game the 49ers beat us in the championship game 38-28 on their way to the super bowl we should have won. That one still stings a bit for me.

Tell that to Buffalo that pitched a shutout not all NFL defenses are “ trash” . Ours is much much better then last year .

If we face Jacob Brisett we’ll do well too.

With that said the Bills are one of the teams that play a few shreds of defense.

Neither of those teams want to run the ball that we played.
They actually ran the ball pretty good against us
It’s wasn’t gashes like last year but pretty good
At 5.0 per carry
It’s not like we shut down the run
We scored effectively which led them to pass more

Our outside containment and giving up chunks in these swing passes out of the backfield needs to get addressed , Hurts likes to break pocket and Miles Sanders can go miles without a roadblock .

Let’s be honest every time Herbert & LA put a dent in the D out came the yellow flag like an Indy 500 warning . Can’t count on every opponent getting a 100 yards in penalties .
Why not. The first two weeks both opponents had 100 yards in penalties.

Dallas should get credit for causing them, it's not always just opponents mistakes.

Example, look how Ramsey got the opi on Gallup last year

I don’t think LA had illegal shift ( 2 players not set ) and had a TD taken off the board because it was a forced error by Pokes defense . And LA was getting wide continually but I’m sure Quinn is looking at a fix.

I loved when the Boys used to make Steve Young cry.....took Free Agency to finally buy him a SB..

I know they did but you said they had a 100 in penalties because we forced them into penalties . No one forced them into an illegal shift causing them to lose a TD
Doesn't mean every penalty was forced but when Parsons is killing OL they tend to make mistakes for example holding or false starts plus unsportsmanlike contact or taunting...... which all happened

Sure no question the new FA’s and some of the draft picks have added a lot to this yrs defense and Quinn is not predictable .

I think Joseph getting back is going to help that CB 2 spot and Golston plays like Osa and will help.

Good thing is these guys will get better as season goes on and hopefully clicking on all cylinders by postseason

The illegal shift TD obv was not caused by the Boys D, but the deep TD called back for holding most definitely was. LVE was clotheslined by their OLineman, was about as blatant a hold as there can be. And if the Chargers OL didn’t clothesline him, Herbert would’ve gotten blasted and LVE would’ve had 2 sacks on the day. So I think it can go both ways with the penalties and the causation…

I think Nashon Wright has a nose for the football would love to see him pick off an errant Jalen Hurts missle.

Right. It’s been portrayed here that the penalties yesterday were all LA mistakes, but the Cowboys had something to do with it. E. g., Parsons makes an outstanding pass rush move and the RT has to grab him as he’s already by. That holding penalty is a result of a Cowboys player beating his man. It’s kind of like what Gary Player said when asked about luck, “the more I practice, the luckier I get.”

I have never liked Steve Young, but I have to agree with him. The Cowboys are inconsistent from game to game, from quarter to quarter, from one series to the next. With that being said, it usually takes a few games before teams starts to gel and I fully expect the Cowboys will develop some consistency as the season goes on. In many ways, this is a young team at key positions and there are several players that are new to the roster. It will take a few games for them to start playing well as a team.

The Run Defense. Can we give this Defense a **'in round of applause at least for the job they've done against the run these first two weeks?!?!

After being historically, embarrassingly awful last season, this Defense completely shut down both Tampa and LA's run game these first two weeks.

Honestly (and I say this while trying to be as unbiased as possible), if this defense can continue to shut down the run the way they have been thus far, I can't see how they won't finish as a top 15 defense by years end.

These guys will continue to improve against the pass as well, and I believe the sacks will eventually start to hit home once Gregory gets into a rhythm and Parsons gets comfortable as more of a 3-4 OLB than a 4-3 MLB.

I like their chances to keep it up against Philly, but the real test comes in 2 weeks against Christian McCaffrey and the sneaky good Panthers. Can they stand up to that test and shut down the first REAL gamebreaker at RB that they will have faced all year? I'm thinking YES! LETS GOOOOO!!!

How do you score the defense?
  • 1st for turnovers
  • 17th for score allowed
  • 27th for total yards
  • 31st for passing yards allowed
  • 9th for rush yards allowed
I will say:
Tampa:
  • Excellent QB
  • Excellent WR
  • Good O-line
  • Below average RB
Chargers:
  • Excellent QB
  • Excellent O-line
  • Good WR
  • Average RB (adjusting for Eckeler's ankle inj)
Given the above. I would say our run defense is punching slightly above their real rank, while our passing defense is punching well below their real rank. I think we'll finish around 15th for rushed yards, 20th for passing yards but if we finish no.1 for turnovers (were we currently are) then that makes us a dangerous team and contender in the playoffs, particularly given we have one of best, in not the best offense in the league.
