Was the loony QB draw a Kellen Moore rookie mistake?

No. That play call was terminally stupid. 14 seconds left. You do NOT run the ball to “get closer”. San Fran was gifting us 10 yard outs every play. Throw one more to the sideline and get out of bounds. That would take 4-5 seconds. You still have time (9 to 10 seconds) to go to the end zone twice. Even if the throw to the sideline is incomplete, you still have two throws to the end zone. I mean, is it even in question how stupid the decision to run actually was?

They don’t trust Dak with two throws

Doubt dak is making that call. If he is all coaches should be fired. Players shouldn’t call plays.
Usually has a run\pass play to choose from depending on what the defense is showing. The play worked almost to perfection as San Fran was caught off guard as was the refs. Time ran out and that was the end of the game. Snafu at the end by both our qb and the referee who was a long way from the line of scrimmage. Could of been a hell of a play call had time not ran out and we had got a td on the following play.

What I think may have happened was this. Moore had it in his mind that spiking the ball is like using a down as a timeout. It is ... sort of. The huge difference is you cannot instantly spike it to stop the clock. You have to get into position to run a play first and the ref has to position the football. Most of us here are saying, "Well, doh." But Moore was thinking he wanted some more yards to make the Hail Mary closer and thus more achievable and thus called the QB draw. Through lack of experience, he thought there was enough time to get in position and spike it.

Maybe our Boy Wonder has some knowledge of the game, but is still green with inexperience. Is this a possible explanation for what happened? What do you think?
MM took credit for that call, he has special analytics from the barn year only he knows about.

Could have ran that play with success at any OTHER time in the game with success. SF was faking blitz most of the night and dropping back. Empty back field, 3 wr on one side one on the other side, motion 3rd wr to opposite side, fake the sorry wr screen then run up the field Mr 40 million.

Kellen Moore has literally failed at EVERYTHING he's done in the NFL. Only on this team would a dude who fails not only hang around, but repeatedly get promoted.

I was at the game so I havent got to see replays and what not. But wasnt there 14 seconds left prior to that play? Seeing how Dak probably is a 4.9 ish forty, you think he could run 20 yards in 3 seconds, going down with roughly 9-10 seconds and you would think you could easily get a spike with that kind of time. Bad call? hell yea, because it didnt work, but you would think you would have had enough time to get a spike in and run another play.

From what I've heard and read the draw was Big Mike's call
