I heard on Schein on Sports I believe is interesting. We had 8 penalties that altered the game. 4 against us when we had stopped SF from a first down but a penalty was called and they advanced the ball for a first down and 4 when we got a first down but penalties against us brought the ball back and our drives stalled. This is huge!

That’s interesting. That’s like every penalty that wasn’t a pre snap penalty. I think we had 6 pre snap penalties. At least 5.

edit**

I guess some of them fit in both categories. Either way, they suck.

YES so we extended their drives and negated our own. No wonder we lost.

Penalties have been a huge issue all season
As in we lead the NFL in them.
This is inexcusable and the coaching staff needs to be held accountable.

Hell yah, I watched the game. Now count the number of drives that got ruined because a WR dropped a pass or multiple passes.

So in affect the Niners, just on penalties alone, got 8 extra drives because of our penalties.

Dallas had 14 penalties (tied NFL playoff record) for 89 yards. They finished w/127 penalties on the season, the most in the NFL. Huge problem!

Something Gallimore & Gregory just can't/won't fix.

Not only that. Dak had to deal with 3rd and 13 more than I've ever seen ALL DAY in a playoff game. He really did have no chance at all. I was actually surprised when he hit the TD to Cooper. Really did expect it to be called back. Game was over in the 1st quarter and people are making a huge deal about the last 30 seconds. Morons...

Altering the game is semantic, virtually every penalty alters the game. If you get a false start on first and 10 while in field goal range during the third quarter, your first and 15 then leads to not being able to convert a 3rd and 3… that won’t be considered game-altering. But it absolutely is, it’s just not during a hyped up moment.

Go figure....been that way most the year. Especially in the loses.

Refs CAN decide the outcome of games.

Over half of the Cowboys penalties were pre snap. That's ridiculous in your 18th game of the season, and you're playing at home. Can't even blame crowd noise.

I can't say I had a problem with any of the penalties called but there were some major misses on the SF side. Doesn't matter though. No discipline=no advancing in the playoffs.

I've been a part of this forum since it was under a different URL and have heard it year after year that we have dumb players, or we are the dumbest team in the NFL. It would be a helluva coincidence if that were the case so consistently and there's only one common denominator. The guy at the top has too much input into personnel and day-to-day activity. Jimmy hurt his fragile ego and now he refuses to allow football guys to run the show which has led to the product we saw on the field on Sunday. We don't have dumb players. We have a soft, dumb owner that has created this neverending cycle of mediocrity and has led to the lack of focus we see over and over again. This was a very talented team that wasted a golden opportunity because they couldn't focus on what was in front of them and it's infuriating. I'll watch the games but Jerral won't get another dime from me till he hires a real GM and a strong HC and the rest of you should adopt the same mentality. Otherwise we will continue to see the crap product we've been seeing since the late 90's.

Almost all the penalties in the 49ers game were legit, either pre-snap or blatant enough to notice during the play, like Gregory doing a suplex take down of a blocker.

Just saying.

Not the first game this had happened. Most of our losses was because of these types of penalties.. A few may have been bad calls but for the most part it’s just us shooting ourselves in the foot. Helps to make you come out flat.
