Having calmed down now and been able to collect my thoughts, I pondered the recently curtailed season and attempted to rationally consider what positives it produced. This, inevitably, lead to me compiling a list.
Positives.
1. 12-5. Regardless of anything, this is a decent regular season record and a big step up from 6-10.
2. The division title. If you're hoping to achieve anything, winning the division is a definite requirement.
3. Bryan Anger. Yes, I know he's the punter but after Chris Jones, what a huge improvement.
4. Dan Quinn. He has worked a minor miracle with the D. His very likely departure is very bad news.
5. Micah Parsons. The best find in 10 years? 20 years? Ever?
Negatives.
1. The continuing inability to live up to the potential. Soul destroying.
2. Not that we lost games but HOW we lost games. Tampa aside, when we lost we could not have looked worse.
3. The receiving corps. The unit I was most excited about preseason just didn't materialise.
4. Kellen Moore. Clearly has dreams and ideas but hamstrings himself or is hamstrung by others?
5. Penalties. Seriously, when do we stop beating ourselves with these.
All in all I don't think it was a bad season. Prior to it starting, most on here were thinking 10-7/9-8 hopefully make the playoffs. We exceded that but then ruined it by being predictabley disappointing when it really mattered. It looks like an off-season of big change which is rarely good news.
Thoughts?
