You are now Jerry Jones. You get to choose between these 3 options. Which one are you choosing?

1. Draft a QB? You spend every available resource moving up in the draft to get your guy... that blue chip QB. You hope we luck into a Mahomes type QB. You know the chances of getting an elite QB is extremely low but you believe we can't win a Super Bowl without one. You're willing to do this every 4 years until we find "that guy". I say every 4th year because we will be giving up future draft picks (plus we will need a couple years to see if the guy we drafted is any good).

2. Sign a FA QB? These guys don't come around often and are usually older QBs at the end of their careers. You might get one that still has some gas left in the tank (Russell Wilson/Matt Stafford). Most of them will probably require a stacked team around them to make any noise in the playoffs. They will more than likely come with a hefty price tag. These guys also tend to pick teams that they think are a QB away from winning it all (which makes it even more difficult getting a very good/elite one).

3. Build an elite team around Dak? You go the 49er/Titan route. You build out the trenches. You need an elite defensive line, offensive line, and a strong run game to win it all with a mid tier QB. You hope Dak improves with age. You get coaches in here that know his limitation's and schemes around his strengths. The downside of this is it could end up similar to the Romo years with a lot of talent wasted and a couple playoff wins.
Door #3, Monty. It’s the only viable option in the near term after the signing him to that contract. The key to me is moving on from KM and getting a fresh, creative offensive scheme.

I’m not a fan of Baltimore’s offensive scheme, but they recognized what they had and what was needed to maximize the chances for success. Dak is not Tony Romo and highly unlikely he will be. And, please, this is not a Dak vs. Romo debate. It’s about structuring your offense to the strengths if your players, most especially you QB.

1. I’d draft a QB 2nd round on down. See if he can push Dak with some competition.

2. Between the draft and FA, try and improve the offensive line to have a viable if not potent run game. Also have a space eating fatty on the defensive line to make it hard for opponents to run the ball.

Dak and his salary remove the sign a FA option. And I wouldn’t mind seeing us draft one early wouldn’t make sense. So the only option is to build a team around Dak that compliments him much like the 49ers did for Jimmy G.

How about.... QB, RB, DT. You have to draft one, trade for one, and stick with one. Go!

#3. Do the same thing that Tom Brady ran to. Build your team up around your over achieving, 4th round QB. Even though D4k is better than those QBs. Tannehill was the 8th over all player taken! Jimmy G was a late 2nd rounder. So, if you go the route that Tennessee and San Fran has, we'd have way more success.

Your only option is 3. You can look at a QB in the draft next year maybe but there are really no blue chip guys available this year. Build the lines - You should do that anyway. You cannot afford option 2 at all.

3 is the only option. He's better than QBs who won it recently.

The question becomes….do we want to move forward towards getting to the big dance? If so, option 3 is NOT an option.

It's rather obvious that Jerry Jones and his son have already picked Option Number 3 for they have given up 2 first-round picks to get Dak receivers (Cooper and Lamb). Since the defense looks decent, I look for them to draft some offensive linemen with their high picks. While I think that Jerry and Son have hitched their wagon to the wrong horse, it's what they are doing.

1 -2 aren't even a reality or possibility the draft this year is not full of qbs and we already paid dak so that out for 2..we already are in process of #3 so this post isn't aging well. unless you are talking 2024 then sure replace dak if its possible draft guy in 2023

If your plan is to dump Dak after year 3, which I am sure Jerry's isn't, there are a few QB's that are valued in that range with some mobility that you could build around. Next year would be the better year for that however.

1. Draft a QB?
2. Sign a FA QB?
3. Build an elite team around Dak?
This is easy, #3 because of Dak's deal.

Option #1 isn't really an option in this draft.

Option #2.....who are you going to get? And do you want to tie up that much salary cap into the QB position and cripple your team?

Go with option #3 and just fix the OL and running game. With a so-so OL the last half the season the Cowboys still ended up being the highest scoring team in the league.
