Maybe an exception for Parcells, but how many years are going to go bye that no matter who the team is playing, the other team has the coaching advantage. It’s time for Payton to end that streak.

Jimmy Johnson certainly was an exceptional head coach for the Cowboys but not so much as head coach for the Dolphins where he even had GM responsibilities. He didn't reach his goals, was burnt out on head coaching and general managing and permanently quit. It was easier to head coach and be highly successful in the era of no salary cap and free agency. Same goes for Jerry Jones as a GM which overall is a big mistake on his part considering as owner he could never be 110% committed to solely evolving in that GM position.

As much as I like the fact we won a super bowl with Barry Switzer it was probably our undoing for the future.

I say this because Jerry already devalued coaching and this justified his philosophy that anybody could coach the cowboys and win as long as the talent was there.

We have proof positive in the last 26 years that this is not the case.

If Jimmy would have stayed I am sure we would have reached the super bowl at least a couple more times in 26 years and had many more playoff wins to our credit

Considering there isn't a salary cap for the coaching staff and that Jerry Jones has extremely deep pockets, there is no explanation for this team to ever be outcoached.

Sure there is! Jerry's ego cannot co-exist long with a strong HC personality. Jerry didn't enjoy working with Jimmy or BP. They didn't want him around the team a much as he liked being around the team. They didn't like him meddling in areas where he had no expertise. ...... ect. Jerry likes the nice guys like Wade Phillips, JG, and MM.......affable men who are just happy to be head coaches and grateful for the opportunity.

You're 100% right only problem is those affable men that keep Jerry comfortable don't have enough test tackles to discipline the other not so affable players on the team to make them accountable and play better

Jimmy got credit. Jerry obviously hated that. Evidence: How fast Jimmy got put into ring of honor. Oh wait.

I wasn't in favor of any of those hires. All were glorified coordinators not head coach material.

Is Sean Payton that much better that MM?

My personal feeling is yes...

No, he doesn't have more than Superbowl wins then McCarthy... They both have the same amount (1). It's something I can't explain. I just think Sean Payton would be able to get more out of Dak then Mike McCarthy could if given the chance.

But he's not coming to the Dallas Cowboys. At least not for the 2022 season... He left New Orleans to take a break from coaching... Now maybe 2023, Jerry can make a deal with the Saints to bring Payton in (as Payton is under contract until 2026).

The Cowboys ownership and management couldn't run away fast enough from even Tom Landry...yea, cross compare based upon wins alone.

I agree. It's time to fire our head coach and replace him with someone who hasn't been any more successful over his career.

We can't let this opportunity go by.
