We've had a lot of players who were terrible with Dallas and then go to a team and have success. Is that reflective of coaching? Just a thought.

Pretty certain nobody is crediting the addition of Chido for Cincy's success.

He has actually played well this season. Kind of dropped off later in the year, but had a strong start.
I did not hear his name yesterday, which was probably a good thing.

He wasn’t terrible here, he just wasn’t all pro or even pro bowl level. Sometimes scheme change or even just a change of scenery helps players. Good for Chido I hope he plays well in the super bowl and earns himself a ring. I had a chance to meet his brother since he sat by where our season tickets are and they seem like really nice people. I wish him nothing but the best.

Thing is Chido really wasnt bad here, but if seems like the old regime felt it needed to make him play a certain way to fit the scheme instead of using the scheme to fit what your players do best.

The other piece is Cincinnati has something the Cowboys never had while he was here, and thats two really good cover Safetys. Von Bell & Jesse Bates certainly helps.

It's been a common theme for 25 years. I'm sure part of that is coaching, but honestly, what power do coaches have here really? Players can go cry to Jerry when they hear something they don't like.

I never ever understood how we made more of an attempt to keep brown instead of Chido

AB's contract was up before Chido's. However they kept Lewis also over Chido.
I think Chido was decent, he never had a good coach to teach him the proper techniques, so it seemed.

Cash....I know it doesnt seem like much, but looking at the Cowboys cap situation paying Brown $5MM per year vs paying Chido a littler over $7MM starts to become a factor.

I think there were 5 players that left Dallas at some point over several years, and won a ring with KC. Either via FA or a trade. A few released because of depth issues. Just no place on the roster.
However, that is not on Dallas. Hitchens and Wilson would have cost too much for what their roles were here. Dallas wanted to keep them, but KC offered too much $$$.

The Ward trade, well, that was not on Dallas either. Ward was like 8th on the depth chart in TC, as other DB's were out playing him. The CB KC wanted Dallas said no to a trade. Plus Dallas needed a C, and made that trade, it was a good trade. But then Eheringer injured his knee. And Ward has not been that great in KC as some believe.

so None of to was a Dallas screw up. Only in hindsight to the usuals. Happens to many teams.

I don't understand the fawning now over former cowboys who played solid and ended up in the super bowl. Is this what we are doing now?

Chido- 14 passes defensed and 2 ints. Seems about right for him...slight increase from previous years.

Brown- 17 passes defensed and 3 ints. Also had a TD and a FF.

But PFF will tell us Chido was amazing this year...

Awuzie wasn’t terrible. He was a starter. Just a victim of the Salary Cap.

And will end up with a team like the niners that has a good d line rehashing this same thread but with his name at the top instead of Chido
It is what it is. Salary Cap simply doesn’t allow you to resign all of your starters.

Awuzie wanted more and we should be happy for him finding it. Unfortunately we weren’t able to offer it to him. That’s the business of the NFL.

Some times a player just needs a new scenery to do better.

Jaron Kearse for us was one of those players
