This is the time of year to talk FAs despite us having no chance! We are losing DEs….but he wants high bidding

The Cleveland Browns have a few important decisions to make this offseason with players that they could release. The Jarvis Landrysituation seems to have most of the attention but is far from the only one.

Outside of the team’s decision related to tendering D’Ernest Johnson, the pending free agency of Jadeveon Clowney. At the end of the season, Clowney made it clear that money would decide where he would play next year. While refreshingly honest, it seemed to be a sign that it would not be in Cleveland.

that the defensive end is unlikely to return:

Jadeveon Clowney, who sources tell TheOBR is settling his affairs in Cleveland this week, currently does not plan on returning to the Browns next season. Clowney is expected to enter free agency with a larger market coming off a strong nine-sack season.

“Settling his affairs” is a huge sign that he knows that he won’t be back. While the official tampering period hasn’t opened, the unofficial period opened at the NFL combine. It seems Clowney’s agent has a good idea that he will get a much bigger offer than the one Cleveland has given him.

This guy has made a career off of a massive hit in a bowl game played 9 years ago.

His production rarely matches the hype.

I agree with that, this is all I think of with him

He was a good run defender for a bit. The problem was his hype was bigger than his game. Any time a DE gets hyped it's tough to sell him as a good run defender...gotta be a pass rusher in this league.

His production rarely matches the hype, which is why he's looking for his 5th team.

Agree! 9 sacks last season seems like a lot for him considering I think those were his highs in Houston in 2017/2018. Id take a look if the guy wasn’t just looking payday considering we might lose 1 or both starters

He actually had one of his best years this past season. He's a good run defender.......no problem for the right price ( $6-8M) IMO.

Clowny has been given so many chances, and has proven that he’s nothing but a JAG. no guy, with the possible exception of Demarcus Lawrence, has accomplished less in the league while still gaining the reputation of being a dominant commodity.

how much does he want? he is not much different than Gregory, so perhaps which ever takes a smaller deal.
