Undoubtedly Jerry Jones and the Jones family are worried about other things (illegitimate children, divorce, etc.) than building a football team.

So lets pretend the Arlington Jonesboys are really the Dallas Cowboys and see how to fix the mess they made:
  1. Monitor the Danielle Hunter situation and make a move - I would approach this the way the Cowboys approached Chuck Howley. Howley had tore his knee with the Bears after being a 1st rounder. The Cowboys traded for Howley. Hunter is in a similar situation. He has Hall of Fame talent but has been injured the last 2-3 years. However, like Howley he is a focused hard worker and he would make everyone forget Gregory being bigger, faster, and stronger. If not trading for him, sign him when the Vikings cut him Sunday for what you were paying Gregory (Hunter is only 27 years old).
  2. Sign Akiem Hicks to a 1 yr deal or Fletcher Cox to a 2-4 yr deal. Hicks and Cox are almost the same player. You immediately get a run stopper that can pass rush. Most of all you have large DT that know how to win and win championships. Dak went to college with Cox.
  3. Resign Leighton Vander Esch - I know this is unpopular however, his play really change at the end of the year when he as allowed to be used in more ways in the defense. Bobby Wagner is going to cost to much. Leighton Vander Esch is worth another 1-2 year look see. This is how the Cowboys got the most from Chad Hennings.
  4. Trade for the Contract hold out at OL, DL, and WR. There is always going to be a very good young player that cheap teams (which the Arlington Jonesboys are cheap). So you can get NFL youth and experience by taking the financial trouble to come away from another team. The Cowboys masterfully did this for John Dutton eventually giving the Cowboys 3-4 1st round picks on the DL during the early 80's NFC Championship runs.
If you look at Cowboys history, this team can be turn around by shrewd GM personnel moves. But these are the Arlington Jonesboys and your owner is GM, and defacto HC.

I agree with all of this. Getting Hunter, Hicks, LVE back and then a veteran WR would be a good start. But this team needs help on the OL in the worst way. The reason for getting Hunter is so they are not forced to use a high pick on a DE in the draft.

We got LVE back on a 1 year deal. I had some inside scoop on this. Let's just say the Arlington Jonesboys drive better with 4 wheels instead of 3.

But Hunter is in the drivers seat and releasing Collins was a bad move. They were the hype practice match up at LSU and develop a close relationship similar to Dak and Collins. So, the release of Collins certainly makes this more about money and opportunity for Hunter vs. getting the LA gang back together with the Cowboys getting a deal and potential great player.

it’s been nearly 30 years. glad you still have hope.
I have no hope or faith in Jerry Dumbo GM Jones or Stephen "Daddy's Personnel Man" Jones. I am a Dallas Cowboys fan, respecting what the were and who they were as "America's Team". I can separate the difference of the Dallas Cowboys from the Arlington Jonesboys.

I just posted what the Dallas Cowboys would do base on their history vs Arlington Jonesboys reality.
