If the Cowboys sign and play these guys on a one or two year contract then it pushes out a younger player that could help the team in later years.
The only way the Cowboys would use a free agent would be that they see no future in the young players they have at that position.
Perhaps they could use a RB as a third option or emergency role player in the event of an injury.
Most of the issues with these veteran free agents is ego. Their skill set has declined with age but they want to get paid as if that wasn't true.

Jaylon started every game in Dallas since he healed and now he can’t even find a job……It’s become quite obvious that Jerry was the reason he was even on the field.
