My bed sucks

Come 2020 my bed that I bought in 2016 was all saggy and crappy, and so I bought a new one. I'm not complaining about the 2016 one. That was the most dirt cheap one I could find, since I had little money to spend in 2016. So I bought a nicer one in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. It's a queen-size, the size I prefer, but now it's sagging. It sags on the left side, the side I prefer to sleep on. I'm super disappointed that it's already sagging after only 2 years. I don't remember exactly what I paid, but it was a local Omaha, NE company, and it was probably $400 - 500. It felt like excellent quality when I first got it. It was a nice queen-size mattress and corresponding box spring. I loved it when I got it. I hate it now that it sags so much.

Makes me think maybe for a quality bed you simply have to invest more. I've been looking online at extremely respected, high-end beds, the brands of which are Tempur-Pedic and Purple (links below). Is that what I need to do? If I need a bed that is cozy-comfy and will last, do I need to just put up a much bigger chunk of change for something higher end? I've heard great things about both Tempur-Pedic and Purple. The other one you hear a lot about is the Sleep Number bed, but I don't know that the bed needs to be adjustable like that.

I bought a 12" deep queen Zinus memory foam mattress in 2018 and it's not saggy at all. It came rolled up in a box. Doesn't need a box spring - it's supposed to be put on a slat platform. I took the sides off of my waterbed and just put mine on the particle board that had held my water mattress. It was only $200 at the time but I see the price has more than doubled at Amazon now. This was my first memory foam, and I'm impressed with how firm it was, and how firm it has stayed.

Generally speaking, I think it might depend on the weight of the occupant, too. Heavier people might need a more expensive mattress.

We have the Tempurpedic. It's a great bed.

Yeah Tempurpedic is the best. I bout a queen size 13-14 years ago and it was great. We up graded to a King size and my daughter is now using the queen. The trick is you can find them used from returns at outlet stores for local furniture stores. They have to sanitize them to sell we bought the top of the line king size for 1600.00

You spend 1/3 of your life in your bed, how much did you spend for your vehicle that you spend far less time in?

I did some investigating after a high-end Simmons started to sag and I settled on Saatva which is an online company but they do deliver your bedding and set it up and take the old away if you want. They also have an exceptional guarantee to let you try it out.

I got the firm Queen and one thing I noticed was how light it was compared to my old Simmons, it is easy to change the sheets and there is no sag after 2 years of usage. I also decided to raise my sheet game and went with Brooklinen and they're great, like the cool side of the pillow all night.

I tried Tempurpedic and found it to be too uncomfortable.

Looks like Purple may be a great choice. Here's a non-sponsored review. But $1600, ouch. This person didn't like it at first, but then grew to love it.

Gotta get some hefty cash together. Wow. $1600 would be a high-end guitar.

I still haven't ruled out Tempur-Pedic. Have heard great things about them too.

This. I bought this bed (called a Zinus Green Tea Mattress) years ago and it is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. I was bout to spent thousands on a Temporpedic and so glad I gave this a shot before.

4.5 starts with over 63k reviews. $400 for the King.

The Wife and I have been thinking about upgraded from our tradtional-style Queen bed, to a King size. I've been looking at foam mattresses, but have heard reviews that they commonly retain more heat than a tradtional. That's a no-go for me. I like to sleep cool. We're still researching...might stick with traditional.

Speaking of high-end Guitars. I just bought one of my dream guitars on reverb a few days ago. 1999 Ernie Ball Music Man Axis Hardtail. I lusted over the early '90s EVH model during my High School years when I was playing a crappy Indonesian HSS Squire in an even crappier garage band. But like Bill and Ted.."I got better". After 20 years of not playing, I'm back in the saddle!

I didn't buy the green tea gel variety. Does it keep you cooler? This is mine.

We have been considering a new mattress as well, but my question is, should I buy a mattress without trying getting a feel for it at a mattress store? I know some of these mattress companies will take it back after a trial period but if you dispose of your old mattress then you are stuck finding a new one if you don't like the one your bought. Maybe I am overthinking it.

I personally would never buy a mattress without laying down on it first. My body needs the support, but also needs the freedom to move. I tried a memory foam mattress at the store once, and I could barely roll over.
