This guy was praising Sam for almost doing well in plays, then talks like he did a bad job when he got pushed back into the end zone...by a triple team.

His first tackle shown was good. After that, he didn't do anything very impressive, IMO.

Like most rookies, Sam Williams' reps will be limited and improve accordingly to his development. With his talent being what it is, though, I expect he'll develop nicely, given adequate time to get the hang of things. In the meantime, the pass rushing depth is doing well enough to get the lion's share of the pass rushing action. He also needs to learn to avoid getting the rookie flags that beset most rookies.

I think many, me included, got spoiled when Micah came out guns blazing his rookie season and we expected about the same thing with Sam. Like it has been said, he is just a rookie and needs to brought along slowly this season. This is fine, since Dallas has some others who can be effective for now. I think this will be his learning year and he will eventually be a very productive DE-OLB next year. Or at least i hope so.... I am no Nostra*******ss.....

Love these analysis' of the team and individual players. Enjoy!

This guy makes good videos, but his overall explanation of certain plays where he criticizes is way off. One thing is for sure, for Sam Williams to only have been allowed to play 16 plays total through the first 2 games is a disservice to both Sam Williams and the Defense. Dan Quinn needs to understand that giving the veterans more reps is only delaying Sam Williams from getting much better much quicker, thus ultimately affecting the Defense.

If this was practice or preseason, I'd agree. But with they've been struggling to stay in games, so the defense needs to be as strong as possible right now.

He was a raw talent so it's no surprise he's being brought along slow. Armstrong and Fowler have been holding down the fort adequately though and I'm sure at some point Williams will get more snaps.

The only downside is sans Tyler Smith it seems we're not going to get much from our rookie crop this year, atleast early in the season. However, doesn't mean they can't take big steps later in the year.

Williams only has one or two moves in the toolbox right now. He’s a bit too wild out there as well. He’s definitely got potential but he’s not there yet.
What does Armstrong, Basham, Fowler Jr and Golston have? What rushing moves? They can't even seal the edge against the run.

I would rather play Sam Williams more these next 2 games against the weaker division teams, so he can get more practice and better.

Thanks @TwoDeep3 , I love when y'all share these video breakdowns!

I'm far from any sort of expert, but that first tackle looks like elite change of direction skills to me. I believe once the having to think about what he's doing goes away, he is going to be on heck of an all around player.

Also, at the 1:30ish mark, I love the hustle from Lawrence. I get all the dislike from folks on him. I'm not a fan of silly nicknames, his lack of sacks, not being available, contract, etc. But I don't remember a play where I didn't see him give his all. The guy is definitely a hustler in my book. I think it's infectious to other players and doesn't always show up in the box-score.

I love these breakdowns mainly because you can see the impact of the mental aspects of the game. It makes sense why Williams isn't out there for 40% or 50% of the plays yet.

Is it just me or is LVE playing much, much better this year? I know it's not part of this thread, but I feel like Jaylon was having a really negative impact on LVE mentally. LVE began improving as soon as Jaylon was gone. Of course, it may just be the arrival of Parsons, too. Maybe LVE just plays to the level of the guys he's around.
