I don't expect fireworks from the Cowboys offense this week, but this defense is all kinds of a terrible matchup for Wentz. Relentless pressure on a QB who loves to hold the ball too long, and an aggressive ball-hawking secondary for a dude who loves throwing up 50/50 shots.

I am thinking it's going to look like last week against Jones, another really indecisive QB. This defense will put on a show.

It’s always fun to look at some trends…here are a few I found interesting.
  • How bad are the Commanders? In the last 20 regular season games, they have fallen behind 20 points or more in the first half- 7 times! Wow. So we should be up 20 at the half, lol. They were down 24-0 last week at the half vs e-girls.
  • Carson “Wince” was sacked 9 times vs Filly last week! Wince has had 53 pressures in 3 games. That’s laughable.
  • The Cowboys lead the series all time 73-47-2.
  • In the last ten seasons, Dallas is 13-7 vs Wash.
  • For the first time since 1974, the Cowboys have held their opponents to less than 20 points in their first 3 games of the season.
  • If the Cowboys hold the Commanders to less than 200 yards net passing Sunday, that will be the first time that’s happened since 1977- when that great Doomsday II defense was in place. And a season the Cowboys won it all.
Trends don’t always translate week to week. But on paper, the Cowboys are clearly better. Just need to go out and take it to this team early. If we can get up by 20 at half, it’s over, lol.
They probably wouldn't have made it to the SB, but I bet they wish they had spent the money on Cousins when they had the chance.

The same bug that bit Ron here locally in Carolina is starting to show itself in Washington. He's just not a great team builder.

That being said, he and his coordinators (I believe), are coaching for their jobs this weekend. I think Washington will actually come out with some fire early on, but we'll be too much for them once the dust settles.

They have an alright roster, just an inconsistent QB. Admittedly, that sounds exactly like his time in Carolina.

Get up by 20, but do not let off the pedal. I would say gas, but now days with EV's, I guess one has to say Pedal. :muttley:

Let's hope it's gas powered. An EV may not last the game, or even make it
to the Stadium at all... lol

My predictions:
Dallas D gets a Sack-Fumble-TD and a Pick-6.
The USFL MVP takes one to the house!
Rush manages 20 points.
Dallas wins 41-24 and it will never be close.

I'm not sure if I necessarily agree with that. Cam elevated the team each year they were contending. He just never quite returned to form once he injured the shoulder and then the foot. Of course, lucking into picks like Luke Kuechly and prime Josh Norman certainly didn't hurt matters either.

People forget that during Cam's MVP season he was throwing to guys like Philly Brown, Jericho Cotchery, and Ted Ginn Jr.

Injury or not, inconsistency is inconsistency. It doesn't help the team.

I don't think it's as much inconsistency as it is that style of QB play just isn't sustainable.

A man built like a defensive end that executes designed run plays and throws the deep ball is something that the league hadn't seen before. Cam basically had RB damage on his QB body and didn't have the arm to atone for it. Cam made the team better when they were at their best. They don't achieve the success they had without him.

Again, I don't care what the cause is. Inconsistency is inconsistency. Without consistent QB play, your team will not be successful. There isn't a timeline where Cam doesn't take damage. There is only the timeline where he does and ultimately is no longer the player he once was.

You have to have consistency. You can't go into a game without knowing if your QB is going to execute. That's the problem in Washington right now. Has very little to do with the rest of the roster because they have some players.

This game could be the exclamation point of his performance before handing the job back to Dak.
It would not surprise me if he balls out ...........passing for over 300 yards in a blow win.

I’d be happy with 24 points total right now. If our defense gives up more than that to Washington, it’s a very bad game and the loss is on them.

Never made sense to me that he got all those GM-like responsibilities there. Showed nothing in Carolina to suggest he could do that. What was it 3 playoff appearances in 10 years?

He’s an above average coach but that’s about it, he’s not the architect of a franchise.

and Dan Orlovsky has finally stopped saying the Wence is going to have an excellent career. Wait, is Orlovsky even on ESPN anymore?

I say put 50 on them. Then kick a field goal as time expires. Then nuke the entire stadium from orbit.

It is the only way to be sure.

You are one of the main reasons this board is so valuable. I love the well thought out topic. It's better written than 90% of the professional articles.

Up by 20 at the half? That would be something since that's basically a game's worth of scoring with Rush (20, 20, and 23).

I don't think the Cowboys are going to light up the scoreboard more than usual, but I do think they can make life difficult for Mr. Wentz.

Rush has been able to avoid turnovers and if he does that again the Cowboys should handle the Football Team from Washington.
I might add, no stupid penalties by the defense extending drives. Please do not try too hard to block a punt when your defense has fought hard to get off the field.

We’ll know more about this team in the upcoming games against the Rams and Egirls.

Will our defense be able to slow more prolific offenses. If not then our offense is going to need to step up. So far we haven’t needed a more productive offense.

I’d still take 3-3 if you asked me right now. As a matter of fact I would have taken 2-4 after losing Prescott in the opener.

At some point opposing defenses will have more film on Rush and we’ll struggle . Hopefully our defense can continue their trend. It could be enough. We’ll see.
