McCarthy better than Belicheck. Mike won 3 straight with his back up QB. Bill couldn’t win 1.
well exactly what I have been saying for YEARS in here is happening. Tomlin and Billy Boy are looking pretty avg when they have to try and win games without a HOF qb. Im not saying they arent good coaches, Im just saying they are just like everyone else.

41-24 is a heckuva score against a good defense like the Bucs.:omg:

That's true of all coaches. Landry won SBs with Staubach, but not with Hogeboom. Jimmy won with Aikman, but not with Jay Fiedler.

Coaches matter, especially if they're holding back their QB, but you don't win big - especially these days - without a really good one.

Mahomes got a bit too cute there, but this late and up by 17 it probably won't matter.

I don't think Jimmy coached Fiedler.

The goofier but true statement would be "Jimmy won with Aikman, but not Marino" :muttley:

Yeah, I guess he didn't coach Fiedler. But the version of Marino he had was well past his prime. Dan's window was closed by the time Jimmy got there.

Crazy that Shula couldn't get back to the SB with prime Marino. How they lost to the Patriots with a SB rematch with the '85 Bears looming, I'll never know. Would've been interesting.

That mid 80s team was it. I'll never understand them losing to the Pats in 1985. They should've played Chicago in the Super Bowl, the only team that beat them the entire season.

People forget that Shula had them in the Super Bowl a few years prior with David Woodley. That was a good team.

I remember watching that game against the 85 bears. It was obvious the Dolphins were the last team on the schedule that had any chance of beating them. That was an exciting game... monday night if I remember correctly.

I think the Bears would've won the rematch. Miami had a couple of fluky plays go their way on that Monday night, but it would've been a better SB.

At least we knew Miami had a shot. The Patriots were toast before the opening kickoff. Chicago had already handled them in the regular season. Tony Eason wasn't winning that game.
