If we get to week 17 only one game behind the eagles, a win probably gives us the east. Saying that, we obviously are a mediocre team, no other way around it.

But Aikman did not say anything about winning the division. The Cowboys could win the division, but they also might not win a "play off" game.

I think what Aikman is saying is that if Dallas cant beat a 4-6 Giants team, then they are not going to beat the Packers with Aaron Rogers back, they are not going to beat the Chicago Bears at Soldiers Field, and they probably are not going to beat Washington at FedEx either. Thus, that week 17 game against the Eagles will not matter because the Eagles will have clinched the division already.

Thus, if Dallas loses they are done....................says Aikman.

The only way Dallas is going anywhere is if we get hot like a hockey goaltender in the playoffs and we ride that hot hand. Otherwise, whoever comes out of the NFC East for this year is going to go into the books as "made a playoff appearance" because no one is a playoff caliber team in this division. We're the closest due to the amount of talent but the talent is mismanaged and injured.

Rams game
He mentioned the Rams/ Dallas game. And I believe his point was that this was one game where Dallas played well on both sides of the ball. And then he added....but since then we've learned what kind of team the Rams are..

Have we learned what team the Rams are?? They did completely smoke the Colts in their last game IN Indy.

Momentum is such a myth for the most part in todays NFL.

Maybe but to me, "they are done" means they won't win the division.
Either way I understand what you're saying, if they don't win tomorrow, playoffs or not "they are done" meaning they won't get anything done this year.

As important as this game is, and it's huge, the season is not over if Dallas loses. That vagiants are about done with a loss tomorrow. Dallas wins on Thanksgiving and is 6-6 then comes back healthy after that game. They can win 2 to 3 more games (including eagles) and quite possible take the East.
As bad as this division is I can't imagine a world where 8-8 wins the NFC freaking East. To get to 9 wins without winning against the Giants we'd need to win @ Chicago or vs. Aaron Rodgers - both things they haven't shown the ability to do over the last 6 weeks.

Now I do think they can win @ Giants, I think they can do that and they need to do that.

Aikman and others are drawing an emotional line in the sand that gives no credibility to our injury struggles, gives no hope that their return means anything, and gives no hope that our offense can be kick started.

I think the challenge is to get enough of our defense healthy, our offense kick started, and re-establish a rhythm to this team and our season. I would love for that to start tomorrow. But if lose tomorrow, find a way to beat Oakland, and then add back a healthy Lee & Durrant while keeping the other guys healthy, I will be right there hoping when we go to Chicago.

An NFL season is a series of mini-seasons. We can get better, much better, than what we saw in NO two weeks ago. If you don't believe that, then don't even wait for tomorrows game. Give up now.

For me, it remains to be seen what these players and coaches can make out of the 2013 season and I will give them more than tomorrow to find out.

Mathematically - the loser is not done - correct. But both teams suck so bad - the loser is.............well..............done. It doesn't matter, the Eagles appear to be the best team in the deplorable NFC EAST and even they are terrible on the defensive side of the ball.

Pretty much it. People buried the Commanders weeks ago but math tells you that they were "still in it".

I think this game and the Ariz/Philly game next Sunday will be strong indicators what's coming. If both teams win or lose, then it goes down to the last game and it's pretty much a toss up. If only one team wins, that team takes the division imo.

If Giants lose, they are done but not the Cowboys. They will still be one game behind Eagles with a game to play against them at home.
As fragile as the Cowboys are psychologically, they are not going to recover if they lose. Besides, the Eagles have a winnable schedule the rest of the way. The Cardinals, Vikings, Lions and Bears do not exactly look like juggernauts.
