IRVING, Texas -- DeMarco Murray insists that he does not care about setting records and hitting milestones.

But his Dallas Cowboys teammates definitely care about Murray making history.

"I'm pretty sure it's not [his goal], because he never talks about it," receiver Dez Bryant said. "Never talks about it at all. But the other guys around him, we all notice it and think about it. That's why we practice hard, so we can give him that opportunity to reach that. That's a big deal."

Murray has already broken Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown's record for 100-yard games to start a season with seven. He's halfway to Barry Sanders' record of 14 consecutive 100-yard games.

Emmitt Smith's franchise record for rushing yards in a season (1,773 yards) is well within the sights of Murray, who has gained 913 yards through seven games. He's on pace for 2,087 yards, so he could challenge Eric Dickerson's NFL record of 2,105 yards.

Only seven backs in NFL history have broken the 2,000-yard barrier.

"I think he can do it," Bryant said of Murray. "I honestly think he can do it." ...

It's ironic that Murray has a chance to break many single season records for Cowboys running backs. When Dorsett and Smith came on the scene, they were first round picks and we expected them to do great things. Murray was considered good but no one imagined he would be in this position at this point. I hope he breaks all the records. He's fun to watch. Tony D and Emmitt had great O-lines and so does Murray so that's a wash. Murray is beasting in his own right and I hope we ride him to the promised land like @Irvin88_4life said.

This is how championship teams are made. it starts with youth, talent, commitment and selfless desire to succeed for the greater good of the team. When players are ready to lay it on the line for their teammates and coaches, good things will happen.

For sure, it is what burns in the bellies of a Marinelli run defense.

Actually Murray is pretty talented in his own way. He has break away speed (4.4) and is tough to take down. The only reason why he got selected in the 3rd round was because of his injury history.

Marshan Lynch last year provided the same running attack for Seattle and their SB run.

Their physical style preceeded their play and dictated how teams play to stop them.

This allows the team to make shuttle change-ups that produce big plays.

Nice to see this return to the team.

He's really fun to watch. What a terrific runner.

Hope no one takes this as me slighting Murray, Arian Foster is fun to watch run the ball.

Foster is fun to watch. But I have always enjoyed watching Murray's punishing play breaking style too. When he first took over for Uncle Felix and broke the Cowboys single game record for yards I was floored.

But Murray has been even more impressive this season. That he leads the league in not just yards but in splash plays (most rushing TDs, most yards from scrimmage, most runs over 15 yards, in addition to most ypg/total yards) has been outstanding. All this while also grinding it out when EVERYONE knows he will be running it to close out games. Murray has been a beast, and I am ecstatic that he's on our team.

Foster moved to within 147 yards of Murray yesterday. On 41 less carries.

Foster has had a couple of really nice days in a row now.

Of course he's now within 147 after playing an extra game but if Murray gets the 100+ I'd expect him to get again tonight then he'll have Foster 250+ yards behind him once again.

...and 1 extra game. Just saying.

He missed the 3rd game of the season and only had 8 carries the next week coming back from injury. The only game he's played this year where he failed to get 100 yards rushing.

Same amount of games. 41 less carries. Just saying.

I suppose I stand corrected.

Following Murray's rushing yards are fun, but if he gets 40 yards tonight and the Cowboys win, I'll have zero complaints.
