$100 million has to come from somewhere. Either the owners or the players. Neither is willing to give it up.

Everything counts under the salary cap.

I really don't know how players in the bottom half of roster would vote if they had that opportunity. The existing money would be diluted but there would be a significantly better change of keeping a job both short and long term. A guy like Kyle Wilber will be on the bubble this year if anybody else steps up; however, if the roster was bigger by 10 players, he likely wouldn't be on the bubble due to his special teams ability and versatility.

Bottleneck/loggerhead/ Mexican stand-off!
So, mankind's true nature clearly Illustrated,,those at the top desperately trying to stay there? Millions of dollars aren't enough for them. The league is huge, money wise.
If they vote on ANYTHING it should be for permanently staffed and trained officiating referees all on the same page of the zebra shirt guidebook and strictly held accountable BY a jury of 7 random (rotating) head coaches to be convened no later than 48 hours after a 'challenged' questionable game changing call, (each team allowed one gold flag per season) should negligence /fault be found with the call (can't really reschedule a rematch and I've not accounted for post season play cuz', well I'm drinking and posting again even after your strict admonishment @GhostOfPelleur ) the teams split/tie that game.

I've got a couple more gears still, with " man alive,I dropped her on into OVERDRIVE! and that's all there is and there ain't no more",, just a little 'hot-rod- Lincoln '.

You know when the league goes to that centralized command booth on replay calls in n.y. this year it's going to be beyond question/reproach , and who are they going to have to account to?,just figured the threat of a review by impartial entities who got skin in the game would stop the bogus B.S. calls everybody increasingly snivels about .
( that's" Animal House",,, I honored.)

Owner greed.

Actually I think it is more due to competitive balance. Smaller rosters prevent teams from stockpiling talent to the exclusion of other teams. The practice squad is almost like having an expended roster, but teams can poach your players. It helps the have nots be more competitive.

Which would be ~$120MM additional dollars annually that someone would have to account for. Which over a decade is an additional $1.2 billion dollars either out of owners or players pockets. Who is going to pay for that?

Additionally if you added 10 roster spots to every team what's the likelihood that teams would only want to add minimum salary players?

This is greed from owners and players.
Plus the legacy costs of more pensions and health insurance for 320 more full time players

I would suggest the 10 man Practice Squad become a Special Teams taxi squad with no increase in pay but a right to other benefits ....they would dress but only play STs

I would also suggest scrapping 2 Pre-season games and adding another Bye Week per team
TV gets an extra week of real games and players get a rest from the grind

Teams that play on Thurs Night would only do so after a Bye as much as possible
Teams that travel abroad would have the next week off
