Do you agree with Jalen?

Entering the 2016 NFL Draft, there were many fans who wanted the Dallas Cowboys to take Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey with the fourth overall pick.

Ramsey could have been the next great defensive back in Dallas, but the Cowboys selected The Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott instead and Ramsey would go to the Jacksonville Jaguars with the very next pick.

Two years later they each have a First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection to their name, not to mention that Zeke led the league in rushing during his rookie season and averaged more yards per game during his sophomore one. Entering year three they are both among the best at their respective positions so it’s hard to be upset with either one, even in hindsight.

For what it’s worth the Cowboys didn’t draft Ramsey in 2016, but they did draft a Jalen, albeit spelled a little differently. Dallas took Jaylon Smith out of Notre Dame with their second round pick while the Jaguars added to the Ramsey selection with UCLA’s Myles Jack. The Cowboys would go on to add to their 2016 draftees by selecting quarterback Dak Prescott out of Mississippi State in the fourth round. So much of what happened on those few days comprises who the current Cowboys are projected to be in 2018.

Dallas and Jacksonville will square off for the first time since these selections this season (the first time in America since 2010), and it will surely be a lot of fun to watch Dak and Zeke try to take down the elite Jaguars defense that Ramsey and Jack help lead. Ahead of the upcoming season Jalen Ramsey sat down with GQ Magazine and offered his thoughts on quarterbacks in the NFL, and he was somewhat complimentary of Dak.

Dak Prescott, he’s good. He’s alright. He’s okay. I’ll put it that way. [Ezekiel Elliott] runs that team though. Everything runs around Zeke.

It’s not exactly breaking news that the Cowboys offense is centered around Ezekiel Elliott. It’s interesting to see how Ramsey’s thoughts on Dak slowly regressed as he went from good to alright to okay in a single breath. It should be noted that Dak’s name was brought up after the discussion turned to the topic of quarterbacks who “don’t suck” so that’s nice.

While he didn’t call Dak Prescott the greatest quarterback ever, being “okay” in Ramsey’s book is a pretty big deal. Ramsey came off the top rope when discussing certain signal-callers around the NFL, most notably rookie Josh Allen.

I think [Buffalo Bills draft pick Josh] Allen is trash. I don’t care what nobody say. He’s trash. And it’s gonna show too. That’s a stupid draft pick to me. We play them this year, and I’m excited as hell. I hope he’s their starting quarterback. He played at Wyoming. Every time they played a big school—like, they played Iowa State, which is not a big school in my opinion because I went to Florida State, and he threw five interceptions, and they lost by a couple touchdowns or something like that. He never beat a big school. If you look at his games against big schools, it was always hella interceptions, hella turnovers. It’s like: Yo, if you’re this good, why couldn’t you do better? He fits that mold, he’s a big, tall quarterback. Big arm, supposedly. I don’t see it, personally.

Ramsey also blasted quarterbacks like Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco and took a shot at Ben Roethlisberger,

Jalen Ramsey definitely has a swagger both on and off the field and isn’t afraid to let his thoughts be made public. It’s not like his thoughts are the last word in the National Football League, but it is at the very least interesting to note that he’s a fan of Ezekiel Elliott, and to a milder degree Dak Prescott.

Dallas will host Jacksonville on October 14th this season. Will Dak Prescott be just alright and/or okay? Will Ezekiel Elliott’s performance shine brightest among the Cowboys?

Ramsey and Co. will have a lot to say about that, and he’s got a lot to say before it, too.
