on 105.3 the fan. Mickey Spags just reported that Amari Cooper does not have plantar fasciitis.

He has a strain of a different muscle in his heel. Called intrinsic muscle strain.

Which supposedly is not as bad/ doesn’t last as long as plantar fasciitis.

Take it for what you will..... but it sounded positive.

Edit- I know nothing about foot muscles. I am just paraphrasing what was talked about on the radio segment.

Sign him first!

I think he's the one they have to sign. They can franchise tag Dak and I really don't care one way or another what they do with Zeke at this point.

I fully expect that Elliott and the team will come to some sort of an agreement because neither party really has any other options. Nobody is trading for him. Not happening.

But Cooper is a top receiver and his contribution to changing the entire offense was undeniable. They will likely have to overpay more than they'd like, but his is the deal they have to get done. Even if it means taking it on the chin to do it.

From everything I'm reading, it's a non-issue.

AMARI COOPERWR, DALLAS COWBOYS

Speaking Tuesday, Amari Cooper downplayed his plantar fascia issue.
The issue is with Cooper's left foot. Cooper said he played through the ailment both as a rookie and as a sophomore at Alabama. It can be quite painful for mere mortals, but world class athletes do make a habit of playing through it. It's certainly not ideal. Cooper's Week 1 status is not in doubt.

Hmmm, I just watched an Amari interview in which he said it was plantar fasciitis:

Sometimes it is easier for people to say what others can relate too.

Say plantar fasciitis and people know what you mean, even if they don't know exactly what it is.
Say intrinsic muscle strain, they will say, huh, what is that, tell us more, is that worse than plantar fasciitis and so on.

It is kind of like when asked where someone is from, it could be a city 80 miles from a large city. But instead of saying I am from. boondocks city IL, they just say I am from Chicago. Because everyone knows where it is without explaining where boondocks is.

Again I’m not a doctor. So I don’t know. In that interview Amari is asked “so you’ve had it before” which he says yes. And then asked “but it’s in a different spot” and he shakes his head yes.

So maybe because it’s in a different spot it’s technically not plantar fasciitis? Or it’s in another part of the same muscle?

I’m not sure. Hopefully we have a doctor in the house who can enlighten us.

@Doc50 ?

I believe nothing of what comes out of the Cowboys organization regarding players' injuries, they try to downplay everything and I have no idea why, that does nothing. It is what it is.

:) Better prognosis if it is treated appropriately I think. It deals with fatiguing smaller muscles and tendons that provide arch support. In the age of sports technology and equipment, even more attention needs to be given to the feet and shoes. Lots of force on such a small area. Maliek Collins has hopefully benefited.

Either way, it sounds like it just hurts, but that he's familar with playing through the associated paid. I'm not too concerned abou it..

Agreed. Sounds like it’s just pain management, a lot of stretching and rehabbing. But that it won’t really limit his abilities on the field.

Let’s face it. A lot nfl players have something that is causing them pain a majority of the season.

Just a veteran taking days off, nothing to see here. And by the way I just heard the same segment on the radio. Joe Thomas got a pick in practice..

I believe when you have a reoccurring type injury that flares up like PF you walk and run different then your normal Gate, it causes other injuries.. hes had PF in the past and its flaring up most likely causing the other issues..
