Heard a retired ref who now advises ESPN say this is what is happening. It took him 19 years before he became a NFL ref. Then it took him about four years to get up to speed. He said refs are now coming to the league with less than four years at the collegiate level.

Got to run the ball there try to run the clock out you don't give them the ball back I'm off for taking a shot but run the ball and soften them up first not on the first play

Why throw a deep ball to Tavon Austin with two guys covering him? Just doesn’t make sense. Cooper, yes. But not Tavon Austin. oh, well
