Wow...this thread is sickening...it's absolutely unbelievable anyone could still be defending coach Carrett after 10 years of mediocrity and failure.

Your main defense of Garret is that the gameplan and playcalling doesn’t matter and that he has been neutered.

I’ve also never blamed “everything” on coaching. Just know it’s dumb to say coaching doesn’t matter.

Again, it does not matter what the gameplan is if the players don't execute that plan. Period. There isn't a coach or player alive that will dispute that.

I will continue to school you, it's execution, every player to a man has talked about their execution on the field.
The line executed last night and what do you know, they dominate. The defense execute the same scheme all year and guess what , they dominate...lol it ain't hard.
They had their 3rd and 4th string DT's out there the line better have executed.

Of course players have to execute. Nobody has said players don’t have to execute. That’s not the point. Quality of gameplan and playcalling can also put players into better positions to execute and win their matchups.

You just fail to admit that.

If the gameplan was run the wishbone all game wouldn’t it matter?

Of course the gameplan matters. There’s another thread on how Belichick changes the gameplan based on their opponent’s weakness and how best to attack them.

Remember all the angst about 1st down runs.. lol

More than the Jets game

It only means something when it means something. In other words it is a predictable trend because you make it a predictable trend.

The Cowboys in the 90's ran on first down at an extremely high percentage during the Super Bowl years (1990-1995). However, they had an OC that knew what to do on 2nd down. Cowboys were rarely in 3rd and long.

1st down percentage is a sucker stat. It is what will you do on 2nd down matters most. Most of the time Norv Turner was going to call a dump off to Emmitt, short pass to Novacek, or on 3rd and short a pass to Novacek. If 3rd and long, slant to Irvin. Everyone knew it was coming but could not stop it. Because Norv called plays to get in position to make first downs, then strike to the WRs.

On second down Boy Genius or the Clapper are trying to throw to the WR +10 yards down field instead of picking up 5-7 to the RB or TE to convert 3rd and short.

Football ain't rocket science.

There should always be some 1st down runs, and whether we keep going with it should always be based on how successful we are with it. In this game, we were successful, so we kept doing it.

Lol....the message here is that it's Kellen calling the plays and has been since day 1, JG ain't hijacking playcalling.

Well, for once, we agree. I don't think JG took over play calling either. That was an absurd charge. Could he have influenced a game plan? Sure. But as you said, hijack play calling? Nope.

Which was really bizarre. I really thought this was a game we might struggle to run the ball but we gashed them.

Philly radio is questioning how smart it was to cut Zach Brown the week of the Cowboys game when they also knew Nigel Bradham was going to be out with an injury. The OL, when they got to the Philly LBs, just destroyed them.

If you can pick up 6 plus yards on 1st down by running then do it, problem is we have a lot of games where we are not getting those 6 plus yards, leaving the offense is 2nd and long and so you need to mix it up between run and pass so keep defense off balance.
