Round 1
Xavier McKinney S Bama
It's clear this team needs a upgrade at SS. McKinney is a guy who is great in the box tackling and blitzing, but is good in coverage aswell.

Round 2
Larrell Murchison DT NC State
Pass rushing DT something this team really needs. Something this team needs also is he is a great character guy. Has 7 sacks already this yr and has the body type of david Irving. This kid just gets after the QB. Guy looks like a prototype DL this team looks for.

Round 3
Davonta Smith WR Bama
Guy who would fit perfectly in the slot for this team. Under 180 and it shows so he's going to drop. But the guy has great hands and decent speed. Very good route runner.

Lackluster first 2 picks IMO. All 3 remind me of current Cowboys.

McKinney doesn't wow me at all and I tend to love Alabama safeties. He's like a fancy Xavier Woods. I don't think he'd bad, but for first round value, I want more.

Murchison reminds me of Crawford. Tweener size and maxed out athletically IMO. He's a 5th year senior and will be 23 by the time of the draft. I like high effort guys like him but more so on Day 3. Top end of the draft I need younger, more athletic, much more impact.

Smith is similar to the guy he'd likely replace (Randall Cobb). Good route runner (that part actually reminds me of Cole Beasley), he's more quick than fast, he can still beat guys deep. When you line up with Ruggs and Jeduy every down, you can tend to look unimpressive. You're right, he'd be an ideal slot for the team and would step right into that role.

I am assuming that Kinlaw or Davis (Dt) Alabama are gone. Kinlaw would be my 1st pick then maybe grab the safety from Cal later.

I like Murchison but isn't he like 4 inches shorter and 20 LBs lighter than Irving? He's much more like Michael Bennett - which isn't a bad thing. He's probably a DE in base downs and then moves inside in pass sets but I'm not sure he's athletic enough for 2nd round.

He's kind of the exact opposite of Trysten Hill lol. Doesn't have the same upside, but probably has a lower floor.

unless there are changes made before the draft.....
Curtis Weaver,DE-Boise St is a name to watch in Rd 1 or 2...very good player....active...disruptive.
like his game alot.

James Proche,WR-Smu....he'd be a great addition to this WR group.

Patrick Nelson,S-Smu....very good player...worth getting if we dont go S in first 2 Rds.

Christian Rector,DE-Usc....good size....could be a target at DE in mid Rds.

the DTs I like will mostly go in Rd 1....Davis,Kinlaw being my 2 favs.
one name to remember for Rd 2...maybe Rd3
Raequan Williams,Michigan St....big kid...athletic.

syracuse has a couple DL I like.

Rd1.....if JG is here....the name to watch....Boise St DE Curtis Weaver.

Hard pass.

He's an overachiever and maxed out athletically. No thanks at all. I'll be glad when his time at USC is done.

And yes, I realize he made the game-wining play Saturday. I was in the building.

Agreed.

Since we talked about Okwara if you are looking for a DE in the middle rounds who has upside athletically, Okwara's teammate Khalid Kareem might fit the bill. Was really good last year but has been battling some nagging injuries and his production has fallen off.

I'm sick to death of athletes. Give me football players with proven production. Change the mindset on this damn team. Especially the defense.

That's what they did in 2009...Drafting college production is a recipe for disaster.

Yes and no for me.

We need to get more athletic at safety and we could use more athleticism on the edge.

We're still all over the place in our talent acquisition philosophy.

Taco was more of a finished product. He was not going to be much more than he was. TJ Watt would have required projecting what he could do with his athletic ability in our scheme.

Then, we went all potential athleticism. being enamored with Trysten Hill's twitchiness and ignored several red flags.

To me, this all part of the major problem..having a GM with no true accountability for his mistakes.

TJ Watt was more productive and a better "football player" in college than Taco and its not close. He was heralded for his work ethic and love of the game. He's was a first in, last out kind of guy. His only knock was his size and scheme fit.

This team puts Sparq score on a pedestal.

There was pre-draft concerns about injuries, scheme fit, and 1-year production.

Blah blah blah

They were fools because to me, he was a no-brainer pick there.

He was a football player. That's my point. Taco already had people questioning if he cared and his work ethic and just about everything other than his physicals. We chose, poorly.

That's not even remotely accurate.
Uh, yes it is. They drafted a bunch of guys who were productive, captains, all that stuff. Jason Williams, Victor Butler, Brandon Williams, Michael Hamlin, Manny Johnson, Stephen Hodge, they were all incredibly productive college players. Butler and Williams were like 3rd and 4th in the country in sacks. Hamlin was 2nd in INTs.

The thing they all had in common was that they weren't particularly athletic, had no upside, and sucked in the NFL.
