He's much more soft spoken than I expected...and pretty quick minded, with regard to answering the questions.

Dumped by Seattle, Philadelphia, and the Patriots all within 18 months speaks volumes about how grounded he is.
Seattle had salary cap issues and, for them, they were simply turning the page on their defense and were letting a lot of their core players from the Legion of boom go.

Similarly, Philly was in a real salary cap bind and needed to make some room... so they traded him and his contract away.

New England also needed room and because they were playing a different (for the most part) defensive scheme than they anticipated using when they traded for Bennett, he was a logical salary dump.

I’m not saying that Bennett is a great guy or easy to get along with... but there were real, modern day football reasons that those teams let him go. I know Philly, in particular, didn’t want to lose him from their DL rotation, but their roster was getting older and too expensive, so they had to make some tough choices.

To be fair, Bennett is a handful for both opposing OL and for his own coaching staff, so I understand some of the hesitation Dallas fans had about him when the Cowboys made the trade.

Speaking for myself, I do think the trade was a good one for Dallas.

Something tells me when it's all said and done, and Mr. Bennett leaves unceremoniously, you'll have a starkly different opinion on what happened with those other franchises. It's kind of like TO. Great move when it happened, but not so much when it ended.

As far as Philly they could desperately use a solid DE that could rush the passer, and they traded him anyway inexplicably and Philly fans were none too happy. Not because they liked him, but because he produced.

Fair enough, man. I’ve never been one to act like I’m never wrong. Lord knows I’ve been wrong before.

Like most things in football, we’ll just have to wait to see how things shake out with Bennett.

One thing we do know though, is that he cost very little to acquire and brings an extensive resume of playing really good football... and at just a couple of games into the trade, those two things are the most important when deciding if it was a good trade or not.

He is definitely an interesting person but as a fan, you have to love that he is all about putting in the work to get the job done.

Interesting. I feel he might actually not be a Cowboy again next year..I assume he's going to retire.
