I heard Ed Werder on with T. Cowlishaw and S Dennis today. I was not aware he was diagnosed with a narrowing of the spinal column before the draft (the same thing that ended Michael Irvins career) which either took him off several teams draft boards or dropped his draft stock (Didn't mention how many teams and this happens every year in the draft with players). He also had several neck/shoulder injuries in college. Said he talked with several coaches along with some of the medical staff for the Cowboys who are optimistic but are also not being overly open about his status. While they don't feel it is career threatening, they are still taking it day by day and being cautious, and that putting him on IR is still a possibility. They don't want to do anything that would affect his long term status/health.

LVE denies this, but I'm starting to think there is a lot of truth to his college neck issues. Might even predate college.

Should take the rest of the year and get his neck right. It’s not like this team is going to do anything. Come back strong next year with a real coach when the team may actually have a chance to accomplish something.

He didn't practice this week so that's "captain obvious" news...

Just FYI, numerous people inside and outside the organization have denied this. It seems like a myth that’s been said so often people forget there’s no evidence of it.

Sean Lee 2.0

Neck problems don’t get better. I put him on IR, shut him down, and see how he is in camp next year. If neck still an issue, cut bait

at least we found this out before paying him $50 mill.

Dallas could use another Lb. LVE didn’t exactly have a long career in college. Lee has his injury issues and Jaylon I guess is good now. Either way all 3 have injury concerns. Maybe they’ll get a 1st or 2nd rounder at the position, but it seems like other positions have bigger holes. Also Dallas has had pretty good Lbs for years maybe it’s time to try something different

Good to know. Ed Werder usually doesn't just throw stuff against a wall to see what sticks and I respect when his professionalism. But you're right still strictly speculation. I hope LVE will be fine and will be a great player for Dallas for 10+ years. I'll never forget last year the feeling I had watching J Smith/LVE look like the best LB tandem the Cowboys have had since Jordan/Howley 45+ years ago. Even during Doosday II and the Jimmy years the LB'ers were never the strength of the D and other than Hollywood Henderson who flashed all pro ability before self destructing, it's been a long time since the Cowboys LB'ers were talked about as being the best in the NFL along with B. Wagner and KJ Wright in Seattle. Last year seems like a decade ago sometimes defensively.

I’ll be positive and say it’s a good move. Said he wants to play 12 not 4.

Maybe that’s smart and he will.
