I would love to have Urban/Riley here. I would actually prefer to have Urban and Riley here. Urban as HC and Riley as OC asst HC. There is one person I would love to have.

Matt Rhule. The guy wins, he has done a lot with nothing, and is a guy I think would mesh well with the players and the owners.

What say you?

I agree, but I would like Rivera as DC if he didn't get any HC offers. He's known as a good defensive mind, and I'd like to see what he can do with our LB core. They are talented, as we've seen them play at a high level before, however, they are getting whiffed and missing a lot of tackles lately. He can also help the secondary. Maybe help us get some heavier DT's up front.

The fundamentals on this team are a disaster. Which is Garretts mantra. He preaches fundamentals and its what we lack the most. I would love a Meyer Rivera combo but Rivera is getting another HC gig. Unless Jerry backs up the brinks truck to make him take the DC role

Jerry will soon bite the dust. He needs to start thinking big. There is no cap on coaches, and he has the money to make it happen. If he really wants a Superbowl with his remaining time left, he'd churn out the bucks. Jerry, however, is not that intellectual, so it likely won't happen.

However, what other coach (besides Garrett and Atlanta's HC) is getting fired this season? Gase and Shumur? Rivera is no doubt a hot commodity, but I don't think the coaching market is that big this season.

I completely disagree with Jerry not being intellectual. You dont become a billionaire if you are stupid lol. I agree. I would go all in on a elite coaching staff this offseason. The talent is there.

Eh, if you're going to lean so heavily on one season (He's still basically .500 at Baylor), a coach better be doing something innovative. Rhule isn't.

I like him, and agree that he'd probably relate well to players, but in the NFL he's more of a walkaround coach, and he doesn't have the track record to think that he'd be successful at that in the NFL. There's a world where you pair him with Kellen Moore and it all works, but I think that's too much of a risky proposition.

Geez, I guess we will have strong recruiting in texas, Oklahoma, florida and Ohio

*** is it with all college coach, coaching staff...

NFL is not NCAA. its much more complicated and much more sophisticated and a full college all star coaching staff is not going to be any better...I rather have NFL coaches with NFL experience that are ready to go to the next level, like Greg Roman from the ravens, eric bienemy from KC, Dan Campbell as an OC perhaps (he is being trained under Payton), maybe Ron Rivera as the DC, how about Mike McCarthy, yes it fizzeled in GB, but we know what he is capable of,

He's an outside the box hire for sure. I think he's going to be a great coach but he might be a bit of a risk at this point. There's no question that he has done a great job at Temple and then turning around a Baylor team that was torn apart after the whole scandal.

But I'd kick the tires elsewhere first.

I think there is a zero chance Riley is going to be anyone's OC. Guy is carving out a nice name for himself in Oklahoma. Being an OC would be a big step back for him right now.

I hate when people say we need Heavier DTs our main rotation of DT's are 308, 315 and 305, its not there size its how they are asked to play... if we told them to clog up lanes instead of rush upfield and get sacks or 2 gap them the defense would work differently + would have other problems people would be complaining about. you need scheme diversity on our defense not just running Tampa 2 that is why the Seahawks are so good from play to play they could be 1 gaping or 2 gaping there dLine + there lbs are blitzing from everywhere. Dallas scheme is built on having better faster guys that do 1 thing GET UP FIELD, let your LBs drop in zone or man and let your db's keep eyes in backfield. our middle of our line is not good enough on some teams they are 3rd stringers or out of the league. they dont need heavier guys they need Premium Players blue chip players at the position.

I’d look beyond any Big Name prospects.

Here’s one I’ve heard mentioned . Dan Campbell.

Riley will not leave OU unless for a HC spot. I rather have Meyer over Riley for the HC.

Fine with Rivera for DC.

Rhule is an excellent coach. But he might want to stay in college. All the talk is about Franklin possibly going to USC and Matt going to Penn State, which is his area of the country.

Hahaha. Riley is not giving up a $7 million HC job to become an assistant

the skins fired jay gruden. assuming garrett and quinn also get the axe, that's 12% of the head coaching ranks. I doubt they'll be the only ones to be released before it's all said and done.

I'd be interested to see which 2020 potential HC candidates reach out to Rivera to be DC
