You think it's coaching, but it's deeper than that

Everything on your list is coaching related...

the players play the game. those are failings of the player. the coach is not kicking badly or holding a player, or dropping passes. you don't need a coach to tell you to kick better or not hold or catch. the coach gets way too much credit. the players are sucking so badly we can't scheme(coach) our way out of it.

"You can't coach players not to do offsides !"

All the coaching in the world can't fix stupid.

Did you ever play football? From peewee to the pros the only guys who ever struggle with offsides and false starts are the morons.

“Leaders cannot accept mediocrity, as it impacts the culture of the organization”. – Nick Saban

This owner has accepted mediocrity for 24 years without addressing the deepest problem this team has- the owner cannot effectively serve as its General Manager. 30 of 32 NFL owners recognize this. And all the SB winning teams of the last 23 SBs had owners who hired a GM.

Garrett needs to go. But Just hiring another coach won’t fix the deepest problem here.

-Most penalized team in the league
-Worst avg starting field position in the league
-Most dropped passes in the league
-Defense can't tackle very well
-Defense is having a very tough time with dual threat QBs
-Maher has a very difficult time with 35-50 yard field goals and has costed us at least 2 games
-Jones is the 34th ranked punter (there's 32 teams in the league folks)
-None of the players seem to engage with each other on the sideline anymore (last year they looked like they were having fun and a tight group... even though we started 3-5)

I could go on and on, but I'm just beyond frustrated. Also, Urban Meyer is not the answer in my opinion, that guy has quit on every team he's ever coached for... I don't want that guy near this franchise.

Also, this team needs major upgrades at DT and the Safety positions, or they'll never be more than an average or slightly above average team.
This all sounds like poor prep work. That is on coaching. Tackling is on the players. They are all taught this from the very first day they played.

I don't get the disdain for Urban

Yeah he quit after 6-7 years at Florida and Ohio State. After winning a couple championships

What's wrong with that? By that logic Jimmy is a guy we wouldn't want coaching the Cowboys
For years there was a lot of propaganda around here that winning a Super Bowl a couple of years in would be a bad thing, because the 6-7-8-9 year "process" was building a Dynasty.

We have multiple issues on the team but can you believe that there are still people who have obsolved Garrett and the other coaches of any blame?

I went back in forth in the game day thread this week with someone who literally said our problems were nothing to do with coaching. It went back and forth until one of his replies was so petty I couldnt be bothered to continue.

I want this team to succeed and could we use better players? Of course. Every team wants as much talent as possible. How anyone watching this team could say the coaches are not part of the issue just amazes me. I'm glad there are enough people on this forum to at least acknowledge the obvious things like Garrett needs to go.
absolutely correct, football is not much different than a business you can have unlimited talent in your biz but if your business plan put together by the head person or manager is toxic or stale your done. we have better talent than what our record reflects but our plan is stale and toxic, if this team was a business i would dread going to work every day.

We can talk about this, speculate, fornicate, and obfuscate forever... But what's holding this team back in 2019, is the same thing that's been holding them down since 97 and the finality of the Jimmy Johnson players... It's only, and have always been, for all these years, the "Jonz" family control center...and nothing else! If JJ stays...get off the field, shut your MFM, hire a suitable GM, let them hire a complimentary HC, and let the HC hire his own OC/DC and additional staff... Until that happens...this team will continue to fall short...period! We have 25 years of failure...it's not up for debate any longer!
