Did they average those points because Stafford was playing QB? I'm not denying that the offense has been part of the problem. But, the defense shouldn't be making these QB's who had terrible games against other teams, or who were doubted because of their play, or who is a back up QB come in and easily move the ball on them. And they shouldn't be having so many issues to against the run.

The defense shouldn't escape blame, as players on all sides of the ball need to take accountability for the Cowboys struggling right now.

On one play alone in the last game. I counted 6 miss tackles, lazy play from every position. Only bright spot that has been on this "defense that not as bad as you think" in the past 3 weeks has been Lewis. That's it..

I guess I think a little more drastic than some. Or , maybe I am just a complete paranoid worry wart.

They convince themselves that things aren’t as bad as they appear. It’s a lot of wishful thinking. How anyone can think the defense has shown improvement is beyond me.

People need to stop thinking a players total tackles count is a good barometer on his play. That’s the same as total yards passing as a barometer on how good a QB is.

The ONLY reason this defense isn't ranked near the bottom is SPECIAL TEAMS.

The opposing teams offense faces a short field to drive.

That and our offense beating up on bad teams also contributed to keeping the defense off the field.

Then throw in all the back up qbs and missing stud wrs we haven't had to play.

Did I say constantly struggling? No I did not. Every unit has nice moments and even nice games. But 3-7 in our last ten says it all.

3-7 is 5-5 if the offense isn't always struggling. So whatever your point was, the record isn't because of both sides.

There's not a single game you can point to and say the defense caused the loss. Not a single one.

Yeah I know, we have the best defense in the whole galaxy. They've never given up a first down. They've never allowed our opponents to cross the 50. They now have 52 straight three and outs. The longest three and out streak in NFL history. Not to mention the 125 sacks we have this season to go along with the 72 interceptions. They are the main reason we're undefeated.

BUT.. our defence has and is improving. No doubt we are missing LVE out there and our pass rush hasn't been effective. I hate our 'all hats to the ball' over pursuit BUT the D is still putting up some decent stats. They got a couple of turnovers against the Bears.. they kept them to field goals after some good drives.. and generally did the best they could.

The real problem is our offence. When your offence puts up ZERO points after the first drive until the fourth quarter.. then your D is always going to look bad. They get gassed.. they get down. We had opportunities to go ahead by 2 scores TWICE in the first half and whiffed on both. That gets any D down. The missed FG which means we are playing catch up doesn't help either.

When we get behind we go pass happy which is a disaster for two reasons.. first Dak is crap (been saying that since he stole romos job.. glad others are finally seeing the obvious) and our passing offence is crap unless it is junk time or the opposition is stacked very very heavily against the run. Second reason is we are on the field for shorter amounts of time - ie our defence gets exposed more.

Yes the defence can improve but I don't think they are the main problem.. Dak and our passing offence is where the issues start and, of course, the woeful coaching staff (particularly clapper). Change the HC and QB and this team could be very dangerous.

Ranked #8 Defense overall - has to mean something?!

That's the closest one but...GB had 3 touchdown drives of 53 yards or fewer and a FG drive that didn't get a first down. Do you want stops, yes, can you expect much more? No. You can't put your defense at a disadvantage all game, not score in an entire half, and expect to win.

Dallas opened the game with a 3-and-out. If you go down and score, rather than throw an INT, GB can't settle for the run as much and you've got an entirely different game.
