Y'all can ignore this and let it slide down the page and I'm find with that but there have been some thoughts in my head the last 3 weeks that I have wanted to put on here. Many have been written somewhere on this board...or some variation. But I have some real concerns now.
1) I have never been a Garrett fan with the exception of his part time season. I've tried to switch over and last season I was actually genuinely trying to be positive but then the Rams happened. So the thought of him leaving has been a good thing....BUT
2) About 3 weeks ago..not sure why..I almost started feeling bad for the guy. He looked frustrated. It was a weird empathy where I started to feel...what if we went on a run and won a SB with him? He's a nice guy. I'm a long time fan. Stop ruining the enjoyment of the game because of a coach. Relax and continue cheering and let the chips fall where they may.
3) As the losses started to happen and I saw the reaction...or inaction...of players and then Jerry freak out, I started to grow more concerned. I knew Jerry meddling was an issue. I knew players were pampered and he hated letting guys go. I knew he was too attached to Garrett. I am convinced that JG isn't a good coach BUT I'm becoming more concerned that even if he was, the players live life too comfortably...no accountability. A boss who makes it about the glitz and glamour. Then I saw this tweet.
The "friend" part got to me. It is what is wrong with Jerry, Michael and anyone involved with the team....they are too friendly. It's not employer/employee. My response to Michael was
Then I read the Athletic article about how Jaylon reacted after the game vs guys like Quinn, who were at a loss and really upset. Why are Quinn and Bennett speaking out and the long timers so content? It's all said in that tweet.
4) The fact is...Jerry has gone wheels off. In the past his craziness involved signing guys to try and get over...Deion, TO, etc. I liked that crazy side of Jerry. This stubborn, old, drunk Jerry who can't get his personal feelings out of the way to help us win will continue to rear its ugly head. Even if Urban or whoever comes in here and wins and wins a SB, they will run away from the circus at some point like Jimmy and Bill.
Fact of the matter is..I'm glad JG may be done...but for his sanity, walk away and part mutually. There is a sliver in my head that says, "you weren't a great coach, but you have also dealt with 10 years of crazy. Sorry bro"
That's all. The Jones family needs a Troy in their ear. They just do.
