Who would you honestly care if they left? This is a soft group of guys collecting paychecks. There is no one on that list I'd be heartbroken if they left.

Given this team's philosophy of not signing top free agents then this can only be bad news for the Cowboys. If they don't sign Jones, Collins, Quinn, Brown, etc., then they need to find players to replace them. If they sign lesser players, then expect a lesser team.
We're mediocre with them and we can be mediocre without them.

- i get the vibe that Bennett is gone, it hasnt gone well, he's disappeared in tooo many games he's played thus far, he's been misplaced in Rod's scheme
(even had him spotted at RDE for whatever reason) ..and he exercised an option that if he behaved with the national anthem, the club would shave off the final year of his contract making him a UFA after this season.

- dunno where this best rush rate stat comes on Maliek Collins, but hes not a difference maker. he's not a top DT. And a top DT keeps it coming not
not one play every other wee or so.
He makes an occasional splash play every other 3-4 games and he's a very inconsistent run defender. he gets out physical or out-fooled and ran out
of gaps too often.

- Quinn is a great natural edge pass rusher, but he's more nickel rusher than full timer. He has difficult holding up vs run.
But under a great innovative DC, i think theres' a way to scheme him to limit that as much as possible.
He could be our Fred Dean type... or randy gregory type. But the problem is nearing age 30, he wants
that final 3 year big contract maybe something like a 3 year 35 million deal?) Not paying a one track pony that old and that much.
But 10-sack pass rushers are just too damn hard to find too.

Isnt Kerry Hyder a UFA too ?

Pats have Belichick and Brady a great foundation to build a new roster.

We have howdy doody and Tim Tebow....

- We'll need to re-sign Cobb but could there be a chance he could get a new big deal elsewhere - i expect him to test the market.
Despite his dropsies,he's a terrific slot receiver - he's just not on Beasley level despite what many in Cowboys nation tried to hype him up as so.
if Cobb becomes out-priced, team will look into FA market for a slot/returner or consider the better slot/returner in the draft.

- Cooper ? We just invested a 1st rounder on him, so i think team will try to re-sign him around 17-million rate. But it bears watching if Coop want in that Thomas/Julio ratio of a new contract. he's just not the alpha dog that those two ultra consistent machines are. what i fear is all the 3 concerns and knocks
on Amari have been made true in his 2nd year here. But he's still a B-tier, 10-12 range in the WR class. But he has a rapport with Dak, and we've already paid a price in investment in him.

- Witten ? pleeeeez let him go on to retirement or sign another 1 year deal with another team. So painful slooow to watch him lumber in mud, and he's a subpar blocker as well. We really need a TE that gives us much more of a threatening dimension.
We really need to totally upgrade the entire TE unit, imo.

- Dunno if Kevin Smith is a FA after the year, but i'd let new coaching staff evaluate if they should bring him back next camp.

But how will we ever get to 7 games without them?

This is the perfect time for a true rebuild.

May work out okay as new coach shapes a better team. Depends upon the Jerry factor.

If Cooper leaves it was a waste of #1 draft pick and all just to save his coach. But he probably isn't worth what he's asking.

Sean Lee - i think limited snap role as starting SLB really helped prolong his year out far more, but even in a limited starting role it still is a real stunning marvel that Lee still held up so surprisingly well physically. Guy has true top notch instincts but age and years of tolling injuries has his speed and
range in decline.
- i would want a younger, better starting replacement, but i'd be one for bringing back on another cheap bargain deal even if it means a 3 mil depth.guy,

Joe Thomas - i've became kinda meh on him as i dunno if he has the durability and resilience to be a full time starter, and he didn't really make
plays when he got his chance with LVE out. But i wouldnt mind res-signing him cheap for depth and special teams.

Byron Jones is a B-tier CB not a top 10 CB money contract.
He's a solid coverage guy, not a elite one, and he simply wont ever make game changing plays and turnovers.
And this team for way too long suffers big time from a lack of turnovers. But from what i've been hearing all year, the Cowboys have not been
in serious negotiations with Byron's camp, that spells letting him walk. Some team will over pay for him.

- i'm letting Anthony Brown and Jeff Heath walk. They just don't make plays and wont ever improve and progress anymore than what they already are.

- Awuzie and Jordan are not FA's but i am definitely pursuing CB's to eventually be starters over Awuzie.

Problem is there is not a single player to build around in the secondary. Xavier is looking like an average safety, imo. Heath is average.
Awuzie needs to be replaced as a starter, Jones should be moving on in FA. ditto with Brown, and Jordan is average (at best) too.
Wilson is a vastly inexperienced JAG at this moment.

This draft (free agency?) will be about revamping the DL and secondary.

The Peters contract set the market.

Yes, he does not get INTs, but I think he is worth that versus the alternative of burning yet another first round pick on a corner.
