McCarthy offense should benefit Jarwin more than anyone else

I think some players will benefit from a McCarthy offense but especially Blake Jarwin. In McCarthy offense TE is not going to be asked to block as much and they love sending the TE down the seams of the defensive. I think this plays big into Jarwin strength as a player. Jarwin has always been more of a receiver than a pure TE.

Agree in principle, but McCarthy has never thrown to the TE a ton.

Where Jarwin should be most effective is in allowing more room on the outside for slant/flat type plays by drawing a LB and S immediately off the snap.

If Witten leaves that should benefit him the most. I love Witten but the guy is done and should've stayed retired. Jarwin can actually move after he catches the ball at least.

I think Witten could still play but someone has to force him to take a Blake Jarwin amount of snaps.

Having him as a starter and on the field in most key situations is where there is a problem.

If he wanted to become a role player he'd be the best #2 TE in the league.

I don't think Witten play fits with the offense of McCarthy, Jason played as many snaps this past season not as a receiver but because of his ability to block. Under McCarthy system the TE plays a big role but mainly as a receiver who can get down the field and deep down the seams. I am and will always have the utmost respect for Witten but I doubt he will be back this upcoming season

He has when they have had a quality TE to run it

Yes

Schultz should benefit as well.

He seems to have the best combo of catching and pass blocking.

He flashed several times in 2019.

Unless a clear starter drops in the draft..

we should be fine.

When you look at other TEs like Ertz and others..

scheme is the driving force to feature them.

Very interested to see how McCarthy handles this.

We all have to be careful not expecting too much from McCarthy this first year.

8-8 could be coming again with this defense losing Quinn, Bennett and Jones.

Do not know if there is enough talent to overcome it.

Wolf Hunter, Tank need to recover alot more, Jaylon Smith needs improvement, too.

Awuzie needs re-addressing at CB, too.

That is a lot of its and maybes and got to have this or that.

Currently none of us know who will be returning on defense to say Quinn is gone? we have no clue as of yet. Overall talent of this team as many who cover the NFL see a heck of a lot of talent which is why they were overly disappointed in the Cowboys play because they saw the talent but Garrett and his staff was not getting the most out of this talent. As for TE my statement stands in that TE in this offense is less about blocking and more about getting down field which I think plays to a strength of Blake Jarwin

lol.. I think Jarwin playing in a system where the TE is asked to block as much as they did under the Garrett did not fit the bill as a true TE. However in this system the TE is used differently, he will not be asked to block as much and will be used more as an inside receiver which fits Jarwin skills.

I agree with you.

Having watched MM offenses for years..

it's clear Rodgers was outstanding and demanded recognition for GBs success.

MM did not try to redirect it away and let Rodgers be the focus. This should dovetail well with the Jones.

Jerrah consisted praised back to Garrett when things went well..

when not so well..he stepped into the line of fire for Garrett overprotecting him.

Jerrah had to have hoped Garrett could stand on his own accomplishments but Garrett never did.

MM can handle whatever comes along.

A real positive growing outcome for us as we move away from inexperienced coaches.

Playing football and less on the job guiding required.

Finally.

if TEs are not going to be asked to block much, then that puts a limitation on your run game. In-line blocking TEs have to capture the edge outside.
It has to at least be acceptable, not mediocre.

Even the under-sized guys like Shannon Sharpe, Jay Novachek are not going to be road-pavers, but they have to be acceptable enough
to allow RBs to get to the outside, to be able to sustain enough to allow RBs to bounce outside.

They cannot afford to keep getting blown up at the line and allow defenders to penetrate behind the line and cause us to lost yardage.
Not only does that cost us potential breaking big plays but that also contributes to having us to grind and claw that much harder in overcoming those type of
negative and lost yardage and downs.

Apparently Jarwin's blocking isn't/hasn't been even acceptable or reliable enough for him to get more time on the field. And if it's still mediocre the same will be
the same in McCarthy's offense as well.

A year after Witten suddenly retired, I still got the vibe from Stephen Jones radio interviews that the Cowboys were not sold on Jarwin as a starter, and were
interested in acquiring a starting TE in the NFL draft.
Even with Kellen Moore taking over the offense, and slow azz Witten present, the Cowboys still limited Jarwin off the field,..simply because they couldn't trust his blocking.

Yes he will be asked to block at time but seldom will it be hand on the ground directly lined up on DE or LB, he will be asked to chip down on the outside defender but that is a lot different than being lined up nose to nose. These are 2 different systems and what is asked of TE is different.

The WCO really killed the careers of Shaun Alexander and Terrell Davis.

Witten could very well be the tight ends coach next year.
