If the hall of fame isn't run by the NFL,. Why don't we just start our own HALL OF FAME? IM SURE T.O. would be willing to speak to us as he accepts his award!!!

its HOW and when he got the stats he did. At a time when the league was a running league and so he was swag before swag. That's why what he did is HOF worthy. Its all about context and the timing.

The stats I posted was while he was playing, they were in context. He was a good WR, HOF resume is iffy at best.

he was the deciding factor in MANY games. Style points should matter when talking about the HOF. He was the grandfather of what became known as SWAG. This guy invented it for the wr position. Guys like Billy white shoes Johnson copied him. Pearson had a confidence that permeated the team that if we were behind, we were STILL gonna find a way to win the game. THAT has to count for something. You put the original 88 on that 90's team we had, and we still win at least 3 SB's. AND THATS WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO THE PLAYMAKER. This was a travesty.

iffy? Does winning a SB trophy count as iffy? It IS about achievements and winning at the pinnacle right? I must be confused. What about several SB appearances? Without him, they don't sniff at least 2 of them. HE LITERALLY WAS THE DIFFERENCE.

Cliff Branch roasted Philly in that 81 SB. The man couldn't be stopped. Is that NOT HOF worthy? Harold Carmichael didn't do much in that big game if I recall. I'm just wondering if the HOF knows what the HELL its doing. What criteria gets you in? I'm just as confused as Drew is.

I'm no Jerry fan, but you have to keep in mind he didn't get in as a general manager or for winning Super Bowls, he got in as a "contributor" to the NFL, and in that category he certainly does have a claim. He's been one of the biggest promotors of the NFL since he bought the Cowboys and has been a big part of building the financial success of the league.
You are absolutely correct. As a contributor, Jerry changed the whole nature of marketing for the NFL. I can't think of anyone who's done more in the financial realm for the NFL since he's come into the league.

This is why the Dallas Cowboys became America's team and my favorite team growing up in New Orleans, LA. I watched Drew Pearson's entire career from UDFA from Tulsa to the Cowboys All time Leading receiver when he was forced to retire. He was the WR on the NFL 70's All Decade Team.

I respect Drew Pearson, passion, truth, intellect, competitiveness, and inspiration to inspire his teammates (he even inspired the Eagles to a Super Bowl :(). People forget his career was cut short due to a car accident where he lost his brother Carey who was in the car with him while Drew was driving falling asleep at the wheel.

I am 100% sure he did not want the Hall of Fame for him but for Carey. Drew Pearson is in the Ring of Honor. Pearson is the WR on the 70's Decade team. Dallas Cowboys history could not be told without mentioning Drew Pearson Hail Mary Catch, Clint Longley's Thanksgiving comeback vs. the Commanders, and Danny Whites comeback victory over the Falcons. He was a towel away from making everyone forget "the catch". Just as he took the background to Tony Hill as a team player, he would have taken the background to memorialize Carey Pearson in his Hall of Fame Speech.

I feel his pain, anger, and passion. That is why the Cowboys never had a losing season with Drew Pearson wearing no. 88 on the field. The original 88 that made the number historic in the NFL and for the Dallas Cowboys. As an African American entrepreneur, the first African American to have a Sports apparel and NFL licensing agreement, he inspired me in business and investments.

Drew Pearson is more than an Hall of Fame Football Player. He is in the Hall of Fame of Men and had been inducted into the real Hall of Fame a long time ago.
Well said.

the hall of fame lost some cred yesterday. The guy was dominant and if not for a car wreck, would have even better numbers and who knows what the mid 80's teams would have done. He was special.

I really think the bigger problem isn't what happened yesterday, but what happened the last 30 years. I get that he wasn't a shoo in, first ballot kind of guy, but somewhere over all that time it seems he could have slid in.

But the HOF has always left out players that many feel should be in, especially the fans of the team the omitted player played for. I think Howley is overlooked as well. But I think the ones that got in yesterday were also deserving.

Does the SB count towards his HOF bid(A team achievement BTW)? Good question so I looked at his postseason game logs. Oh man, if you're looking for a reason for him to be in the HOF do not bring up the postseason.

22 games, not one 100 yard game, 16 of those games no TDs and in the SB win over Denver he had 1 catch for 13 yards. Compare that to Swann who in two SB wins had 161 yards and a TD and 125 yards and a TD, in a win Another SB win Swann had 5 catches 79 yards and a TD.

I'm not saying he should or shouldn't be in the HOF, although I lean more towards no after looking at it closer. What I'm saying is it's not some huge injustice he's not in and Pearson's reaction is totally over the top.

Disgusting, he deserves and needs to get in but on the honest side, the video. Is obvious this video is about getting it out there so he gets in next year.

He took a huge risk doing it otherwise....what an embarrassment. I think you're on to something.

It's one thing to wait your turn, but it looks like there was a miscommunication of sorts this time around and that's borderline disrespectful now. This kind of stuff is why TO didn't go to his speech, because after awhile you take the joy and spirit out of even getting in.

I think it's beyond disgusting that cameras had to be there to catch a man in his darkest hour and publish it for the public to watch.

I feel disgusted for Drew today. He was one of the great alpha males in this franchise's storied history.

Stop watching these posts and it will go away.
