Dez right now is better than gallup. Dez would come here and get the 2nd or 3rd corner for the first Time in his life.
This is true.

As a fan of Dez, I did not always agree with Dez and his distractions..

and his injuries became chronic factors as he got older.

And Dak clearly struggled in his second year which made Dez a scapegoat in my opinion. Dak was clearly not mature as a QB yet.

I say if Dak is in line for his big payday, he needs to be able to play with whomever they need to bring in for him to play with.

So nix that concern.

Supposedly Dez was unable to run more than a few routes and Dak needed more disciplined route running from Dez to improve.

What crap.

Garrett did not care for Dez and did not like him and moved him out deciding his leadership and a group of 'no name receivers' could play as well as Dez.

Wrong on all counts. Garrett over estimated things, Dak struggled, they had to take emergency actions with the Cooper trade to stop the hemorrhaging.

Now we all see what we had in Garrett and Dez was right about him from the start.

Dez, the team and the fans were in a big circle jerk over Garrett's having Jerrah's ear on all this and he was very wrong.

Dez maybe correct about at this point being effective in Witten's role as a possession receiver.

And playing #3 CBs would be a huge mismatch on paper.

But you have to view it from the playcaller eyes..

not from the players.

Hmmm..

Can we get a 1 year deal to try it out?

They paid Witten what? $3 mil last year to come back?

Is Dez worth that? I say yes but do it using incentives where if Dez and Dak make it work..

then Dez gets paid and he gets a shot at a better contract in year two.

He is protected, gets to prove himself, Dak gets more help, MM looks smart..

everybody is happy.

I say yes.

Now does MM want to get involved in all this under the bridge grudge stuff of Dez and Garrett and past stuff.?

Hmmm..

He might be wise to ask Dez for some recent workout tape and have a sitdown lunch with his WR coach and look at some film with him.

Just a thought.

Or Dez and Cobb rotating would be really nice!! Heck, we could have a really good combo here. I like it.
Yeah.

Reminds me when we drafted Switzer a couple of years back.

There was all sorts of chatter about Beasley and Switzer playing at the same time.

How hard it would be to cover them.

Never happened..never. Switzer got traded by the next draft.

So designing an offense with Dez playing with the rest of the starters seems unlikely.

MM would have to stamp this and instruct Moore to feature this.

Then Dez and Cobb has to embrace it.

That's alot of moving parts.

Probably easier to just pick one and play them.

Which means probably Cobb is resigned as he understands the WCO the Packers ran.

Not sure it's worth changing all that for a liability experiment like Dez has become.

Yup! I think it could work quite well.

It all depends on how stable the change to MM is and his staff.

If they see needing to revisit things to capture more production..they will.

If I had to pick 2 icons in Dez and Witten that were 100% Cowboys models of loyalty to the team..

it would be those 2. For years they made Romo's career relevant. And made Cowboy interest stay front and center.

Not to mention Garrett's career being relevant, too.

Garrett completely underestimated the loss of Dez to the team and its offense.

The benefits of cap recovery never equaled the loss to the team of its identity. Romo was never going to be the same either.

His injury cut short allowing us to see this.

But Dak had to deal with it. He could not make the Receivers By Committee decision work.

The Cooper trade shortly followed.

This is all old news. But it impacts the present.

I just have no feel about MM and how he sees things yet.

The defensive side of the team needs major help. It should be his focus.

Dez and what he brings now just seems too little, too late.

We will certainly find out. I'd imagine Dez could work for McCarthy's WCO system.
