Personally I dont see it. Heath was the reason they scouted Safeties so heavily last draft, as well as tried to trade for Adams. I think they are set on moving on
Oh I’m not talking about starting. I’m talking about potentially brought back to be a reserve and special teams. Not saying it will happen but for the right price it wouldn’t shock me.

Keeping a heath or giving a woods a shot at starting is not really the same thing as either being your starter without other options
Many mention woods as slot cb/ safety
Not sure he’s any sort of cb
I don’t think there is a safety on the roster I’d name starter but I’d give woods a shot at competing with a draft choice
If heath was affordable I’d bring him back as depth and ST
If kinlaw is not there at 17 we have a shot at a solid safety though probably strong safety
But from what I’ve read on Nolan that guy is not so much a in the box run stopper as a disrupter who is used on blitzes a lot
The free safety seems to be back all alone so you need a smart, athletic guy who can cover some field
Not sure woods fits that but he will get a shot but should have competition
Woods broke in to the defense as a rookie covering the slot. He did it pretty well. Not a true CB, but he does have a few CB skills

I think they will go cheaper with the backup Safeties.

I could even see two new starters in 2020, with one FA signing and a draft pick. If that happens, Woods and Wilson would be your 3 and 4.

I could see them signing a Safety on a 1 year deal and seeing how Wilson progresses.

I think we will see much more single high safety and I think he could be the guy there
Very demanding position because you have to read and react because you are the last line of defense and have the whole field to cover
He should get a shot but I’d have another option in place

Dallas safeties have been average at best for a very long time, Xavier is not a bad safety the issue was the scheme that wasn't aggressive nor deceptive.

He's not a FS. He's more of a SS. We've screwed this position up for almost two decades now. We've been continuing to put two box safeties and no ball hawk. A ball hawk next to Woods would be huge for this defense.

On a team that values the safety position no, but on a team who dosent put much stock into the position yes. I hope us trying to obtain Adam's last year is a sign of us changing that philosophy.

He really doesn't have the range to be a good single high Safety

If they go two new safeties than that means they are going to neglect defensive line and linebacker and possibly corner.

Not really. I dont think will have an issue this year spending short term money. I think you will see a few 2020 starters on defense on short term contracts. Signing a guy isnt going to keep them from drafting that position. The sign Clinton Dix, it wont keep them from drafting McKinney. They sign Billings, it won't keep them from drafting Kinlaw ect...

Not really impressed with him.
Rather see 2 new S's with more skills obviously.

I'd like a guy with a little more length in that position - and better ball skills.

Define starting calibre-

On a team with no options like ours he is a starter. Te is not one of the better safeties he is just a safety on a team with no other option.
