Dak my man, you think they're coming after you now, wait until you sign on the dotted line paying you north of $30M+. Wondering what it'll look like? Take a peek on Zeke, DLaw, Jaylon Smith and Cooper bashing, add it all up and multiply it x 100.....in other words, better have some thick skin, you're going to need it. They're coming after you in a way that will make Qunicy Cater look like a choir boy. It's going to be brutal, relentless and downright nasty.
I hate to say this but I honestly believe this board, like any other Cowboys boards, are going relive the Quincy Carter vs Chad Hutchinson days except Dak's competition won't be another player. It'll be his contract and whether or not he's worth it or living up to it. The crazy thing about those days most fans either hated or loved Quincy Carter, no middle ground.
Honestly, I'd be lying if I said I'm looking forward to it ...........
Well, it's pretty much always been like this with QBs in Dallas. The difference now is that the QB salary cap vs the percentage of cap being taken up by the QB position dramatically effects the teams ability to improve other positions. This isn't Chad Hutchinson vs Quincy because to be honest, it was never Chad Hutchinson. It was Quincy vs Quincy. That's not the deal with Prescott. Dak doesn't have issues with Weed or leadership issues or the inability to actually grasp the Offense. Quincy had all of those things going on and it was pretty clear that he was a plane crash waiting to happen to anybody who was paying attention. Problem was, not all of our fan base was paying attention IMO. That's not Dak. Dak's issues are all about what he needs to be successful. Now, if he gets paid 40 mil annually, you may be right because then, it will be all on him and it will get ugly if we don't win. But then again, it should be that way. I understand the fan segment who say "Pay The Man" and "Get Your Money". I don't agree that this is the best approach for the team or for Dak, long term, with respects of football. But, I do understand that the longevity of any players career is limited and so, you have to make your money. But lets be honest, he's going to make more then enough money regardless of it he signs for 30 annually or not. I mean, it's not like anybody is asking him to play for 15 or 20 and if we are being completely honest, the average Salary for a Starting QB is much, much closer to 20 then it is 30, even if you take out Dak's current salary.
I said this early on, and I'm not the only one, Dak would be better served if he signed for less money and a shorter term. Sign a deal for 30 for 3 years, fully guaranteed. Do that and then come back to the well. If you do that, the entire fan base loves you and, all the pressure is not on you to win, no matter what. If you do that, you might be able to actually win a championship in that time or maybe at least a Conference Championship. Then you not only have an owner who wants to sign you, you have a fan base who is demanding the team resigns you and you pretty much have everybody on board with that sentiment plus, the new CBA is in place and you have Mahomeboy with a new deal already in place. I mean, it's stupid to act as if Dak is not getting paid or will not get paid. He is and he will. I just think it's a mistake to do it the way they appear to be trying to do a deal right now IMO.
