Will we continue the trend of offseason suspensions with M&M as coach?

Surely Jerry has to get tired of being fined every year for the last decade for having so many players suspended each year. Will this "trend" finally come to a stop this year?

And lets say a player does get suspended (not talking about fake accusations and whatnot), will M&M set an example by dropping them on the depth chart or just outright release them?

We already know we have a couple of players with possible suspensions coming down on them... Crawford and A Woods. We'll just have to wait and see how MM responds.

Never blamed it on Garrett and won't blame it on McCarthy. Comes a time in life when you have to be a man and shoulder the blame for your actions.
Exactly!

Coaches cannot prevent players from getting into trouble on their own time or doing things they should not do.

It is more about drafting and signing players that are good but are less likely (though not incapable of course) of doing something that would get them suspended.

If you want to judge McCarthy, wait a couple of seasons and see how players added or still with the team at that time are doing in the off-season.

Again though, that is more about foresight than player parenting as no team is immune from it, though admittedly some see it more often than others (Cowboys).

See no need to break tradition just because a new coach is in play.

This is something that would be slower to take effect.
It also depends on how much control mike has.

I think you just have to watch that Aaron Hernandez show on Netflix to realise they will do anything they want, and that's just going out, nevermind the murdering!

I agree to an extent. I don't blame coaches for player behavior off the field, but character and personal traits are something to consider when signing or drafting players. And then it's a matter of allowing said behavior to continue while they're in uniform being paid to be dependable.

The HC has nothing to do with suspensions. Marvin Lewis was a stand up guy and had felons.

People with questionable character + money = trouble.

That's the truth, but is it the coach who necessarily picks the players? Some players also get suspended for some petty BS.

you're naming one player for past coaches. I'm simply talking about 1-3 guys that seemingly get suspended for the last 10 years. By your logic, we could in fact have our entire team suspended for whatever amount of time each year, and it's ok. Of course no coach is responsible for someone elses stupid mistakes, but at what point do we draw the line and say enough is enough?

I know this is the most extreme scenario, but what if 11 of our offensive starters, and 11 of our defensive starters were all fools off the field, each was suspended for 4+ games. Do you just say, "no big deal, players get suspended every year..."?

Lewis should just continue to keep trouble makers on the team? Obviously he had questionable judgement in a lot of things in his 16 year run, Burfict being one of them.

stop with the what if scenarios, hypothetical BS it hasn't even been close to that... why do these knuckleheads given 2-3 NEW chances coming off suspensions by some of the best coaches ie BillB to name one who goes and gets these guys.. what kind of message is that? you are trying to make this a DC thing, a Jason Garett culture issue and it is NOT ist Pro sports issue give the excessive media exposure they get signal them out ..

TMZ follows them around, at bars and restaurants fans turn their camera on hoping to catch a player reacting to an instigator, this happen in normal situation with normal citizens typically its gets broken up and people move on..OBJ taps a security on the butt in playful way, uh oh warrant for that felon..lmao

what im saying is the same % of issues the Pro sports have with troubles their players have is equal to what society has , its just exposed more here..

nothing will change there are humans all over the planet who have issues arise and no more around the NFL..

Yeah.

But I just do not remember much in the way of suspensions in GB.

Brett Farve was the biggest player involved in drug use there was.

So I assume McCarthy had good control over supendable behavior on his team.

Why I am not sure. As you suggest, McCarthy particularly stayed away from players that were questionable.

Unlike us with guys like Gregory and others.

Maybe somebody knows more. I like the question
