- I was at Deion's crib the other day. Every time I go we walk a mile or two. The entire time all he talked about was Colorado. I kept waiting for Cowboys talk but he never touched the subject. I was like "wow, this dude ain't even thinking about the Cowboys."
- Maybe Deion wants to keep it a secret, but you know Deion, if you throw some more cherries on that contract, he'll take it. Jerry and Deion are the 2 top salesmen in the state of Texas. They both like to scratch their back to get the limelight.
- I think Deion can coach at this level. Does he want to go to the Cowboys? I don't know.. he goes from being the man at Colorado to the second man. There's a lot of wishes that won't get filled with the Cowboys. Guys that say "this is the way it has to go" don't go to Dallas. Everything is run by committee by the Jones Family since Jimmy left. No knock on them, it just is.
- Deion knows how to talk to people. He shoots people straight. There's no portal in the NFL though, and a salary cap. You're coming into a core of players you can't touch like CeeDee and Dak. You have to build a relationship, which I think Deion can, he can talk to men, just like the kids. But he has so much tied into the cap with a few players it might prevent him from wanting to build the team he wants. And with personnel that has just as many input on the players, it's harder.
- I think Jerry and Deion could share the spotlight. When he first came here, they did a bunch of commercials together. Mr. Jones has never had a problem sharing the spotlight, he only has a problem when you take it all away. He wants his respect and part of the pie. So I don't think Deion would ever overshadow him. I think the most problems would be trying not to let this thing get out of control. This would be 24/7 Greatest Show on Earth. I'd probably have 3-4 more talkshows!
- The culture we got from Deion when he came as a player was he took away 1/3 of the field. Defense could focus more on run, be aggressive and blitz more, and offense knew they had 2 more possessions. We knew when guys like Haley arrived with his sacks and forced fumbles, or Deion and his interceptions, we were going to get more possessions and better field position.
- You can fight for it, push it, lean practices, but to be physical and tough your players have to have that hunger. Some Coaches have a knack for finding that and talking to scouts "Does he have dawg in him?" You have to alter your practices. You don't let the Rams come in and control your practice like what happened to us in TC. Bothered me personally that they physically handled our guys on the Homefront. I knew right then these Boys weren't a tough team. I felt like going into the season we weren't going to be a physical team again. I want maulers. I think they're on the right track with guys like Hoffman and our LG. We have a few tough guys, but just not enough.
- Not surprised McCarthy didn't return. The expectations were correct. We needed to see an NFC Championship Game. I thought it was over after the Packers Playoff defeat. I thought Jones was going to rebuild the team, but suddenly they are working with less than before. Then the injuries hit and when they had to fill holes with late free agency I knew McCarthy was probably doomed.
- As much as I like Jason Garrett, did he have a bunch of suitors when he left? Mcarthy's name will still come up in coaching hires. I liked him. I think it was a personnel problem. Not a Coach problem. A lack of right personnel.
- It's not who I want, it's who this organization wants. They let a guy they admired and loved walk away in Kellen Moore. Moore didn't do well with the Chargers but the Eagles forced Sequon Barkley on him, cause he doesn't want to run the ball. When Moore interviews, if he says the right things, he's the Coach. Jerry loves familiar people. Always has. Moore knows how to work with the Jones and not push against them. Will he have the right words to motivate the entire team? I know Dak likes him, but that's only one guy. It would be all about his coordinators and assistants. If they are weak, it's not going to go well for Moore.
- The Witten talk - I laugh when people say Deion isn't ready for this. You think that, you better not put this Mac truck on Witten. He ain't ready. Then you would REALLY need some strong coordinators.
- Darren Woodson in HOF. He should have been there already. Conspiracy against Cowboys. Woodson altered the game. He was the first safety to walk down in the slot. We were one of few teams that never took their defense off the field . We didn't have a nickel package. We just brought Woodson down in the box. He played dime backer too if you need it. So this guy revolutionized the game. If you knew football, you would not ignore Woodson. Yes, he didn't have all the interceptions, but they didn't ask that of him. He made all the right plays they asked of him. He was a four down player, ST player, did everything!
