I worked in Information Security for 20 years and our saying was if we succeeded 1000 times and failed once, we still failed. But I have to say, it took some guts to sit on that contraption and go for a ride!

That's why I never understood that saying for crazy people in terms of expecting a different result. That's what persistent people do too, so which one is it? "Good crazy" I guess

That saying doesn't apply. They learned from each failure and made modifications, so they didn't try the same thing over and over expecting different results....if they had stuck to the designs of their first attempt with no modifications, then the saying would apply.

Oh I was just saying in general, talking about that saying and persistence can be confused. To your point, persistence meant modifying along the way, etc. Was more just thinking out loud on that one tbh.

You can fail one thousand times, but you only need to succeed once. Can you imagine how bad these guys were ridiculed for their failures.

Plus, imagine how DANGEROUS what they were doing was. They could not get trained at flight school to learn how to fly their plane. The had to design that thing and figure it out as they went along. They could have easily been killed, but they took calculated risks and succeeded.
