Here is my opinion on why this will be Mike's last game coaching as a Cowboy.

1. The fan base is pissed right now and the excitement for this team has waned big time. Jerry needs a scapegoat and he needs to sell hope. He can't do that with signing McCarthy.

2. Mike will not sign a 1 year deal so Jerry will have to give him at least 3 or 4 years. If he does that and the team falls flat again next year then Jerry is really screwed. His worst nightmare is firing a coach with multiple years left on his contract after 1 year. He doesn't want to pay two coaches. What does Jerry do in this scenario? Bite the bullet and fire him? Or ride out the contract out a pissing the fan base off even more at him and again attention drops? He does not want to be in that position so that is why this will be McCarthy's last game.

Happy new year everyone.

The issue with this team is not the offense. It’s the defense. That’s where changes need to be made in coaching.

..he cant win the BIG games. Even when handed on plate. Nice to be in post season, but if you cant advance. The stigma continues.

I don't know.

If Jerry keeps McCarthy the fans will be pissed.

If he hires a new coach a lot of the fans will probably be pissed too if it's not the guy they wanted.

Want to make us all happy, Jerry? Fire yourself and hire an actual GM. Wait, it's New Year's, not April fools.....

Was thinking the same. Mike is going to demand a raise to continue to put up with Jerry’s crap and inept approach to roster building.

Let’s see how that goes, but Jerry chose to to make Prescott the highest paid player in history, so he will probably cave as usual for lack of a better option.

Hiring someone who would require Jerry giving up any amount of control isn’t an option.

Agreed. Another problem is this team cannot play complementary football on a consistent basis. When the offense is good the defense is bad. When the defense plays well the offense stinks it up. The Tampa Bay game was about the only one this year where I saw the defense step up and bail out the struggling offense.

3 reasons Jerry keeps MM

1. To be comfortable
2. Dak
3. Injury excuse.

I won't be pissed if he keeps Big Mac. Qak, Aikman, Jimmy Johnson and quite a few others are on that ballpark.

Bur I'd rather see Big Mac leave of his own accord and get to the Super Bowl just to watch Booger choke on his fried squirrel brains.

No coach can create an offense that is going to be competitive with Dak Prescott operating it.

You mean the number one offense in the NFL last season when Dak led the NFL in touchdown passes? And went 12-5 three years in a row?

OK.

I think MM leaves because there is no upside in Dallas. Half the cap will be going to five players leaving little room for significant improvement unless they hit big in the draft.
