I believe it’s because Jerry chooses what he knows and is comfortable with.

Despite his “wildcatter” self image Jerry is very risk avoidant and timid when It comes to football.

He wasn’t at one time. Seems like the Carr deal tamed him

I wouldn’t expect Jerry to change course.

I get it, but it's easy for JJ to spend his millions and in some cases his spending has been a complete waste .

I know everyone is waiting for that shoe to drop, but I could understand his situation with his talent being wasted with way below avg QBs right before his second contract. From a business point of view, that's just *** with your money. And as arm chair GMs your right, its easy to spend someone else's money so why are fans wanting to get rid of him vs spend JJs money.

He hasn't demonstrated that here, even when the media tried to make it up during that one little stretch last year (name one elite WR that doesn't have some sideline drama every now and then). The one time that would have appeared to be most obvious was with the tag, and he handled that with upmost of professionalism.

I agree with you 100%. However, the rest of the league doesn’t seem to.

I don’t think he’s getting paid by Jerry but a good season and he’s getting paid. He’s a FA unless Jerry wants to tag him twice, which I doubt because it’s mighty expensive

Don’t forget he can tag and sign or trade him.

Having a QB that can get him the ball consistently will probably keep him happy, that and winning. I don’t think he’s that big of a problem that we have to deal expend a lot of resources to keep him happy or out of trouble.
He’s way way down on the list of things to worry about next season, I mean heck he didn’t even raise a fuss about playing on the tag and came to camp….that says a lot I think… JMO

This is a Cowboys board and most get their NFL news from his site so we tend to overvalue our favorites and dogpile those who transgress against the vibe of the fandom without a great deal of critical thinking.

Here is a list of active wide receivers who *all* have documented issues with actual news stories, criminal charges, attributed quotes, domestic violence, substance abuse, etc.,

Brendan Aiyuk
Puka Nacua
Tyreek Hill
Rashee Rice
Stephon Diggs
Jameson Williams
Jordan Williamson
Zay Flowers
Davante Adams


All of those guys are more concerning than Pickens, whose biggest sins are two low effort plays against Detroit, missing curfew one time and some non-attributed rumors of bad body language and tardiness in Pittsburgh.

You ask The Zone about that list and a large number would trade Pickens for pretty much any of them, even the ones they haven’t heard of.

I wouldn’t want to trade for any of them. May I ask why Davante is on the list. I don’t really remember anything too bad.

Pretty much needs to be consistent and prove he was not a one hit wonder. Is the consensus.

I con't think he has anything to prove. I think he picks up where he left off. A proven commodity to the offense.

I am happy with him. To me as a player you can always improve but those would be minor things. As i said i am happy with him.

If there is one thing he could really improve is in his contract negotiations and that includes the skill of how to chose a good agent ;-)

I wouldn’t want to trade for any of them. May I ask why Davante is on the list. I don’t really remember anything too bad.

He was charged with assault after he shoved a reporter to the ground after a game against the Chiefs.

He also demanded trades to force his way out of Green Bay and then from the Raiders.

He said stuff like “I have a sense of helplessness” because he didn’t like his usage

He also had this beauty. A classic diva meltdown

Not for the price of 2 first round picks and a top 5 salary...evencifctjerecis no doubt, that's a steep price to pay, then add the remote possibility and i can see why no team made an offer.

If that was the asking price then yes. Doesn’t seem like anyone even tried for less. Not one single rumor that a team tried. When there’s no smoke, there’s no fire. lol

Your list may be a reason for the reluctance of anybody to trust receivers in this marketplace.

Even though George may not be anywhere near your list in his 2025 campaign he did have issues following him from Pittsburgh and let's chalk this up to people who believe it is hard for tigers to change their stripes.

I haven't made a thorough list of wide receivers in the league since the onset of modern free agency, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were more Antonio Browns than there are Larry Fitzgeralds.

It’s very rare to use tag twice. Gets very, very expensive. And trading gets complicated since they have to agree to the costs

Agreed, we know he can be very good. He just needs to do it again.

Its not like GMs didn't know what the asking price was going to be before the tag....you know the base was at least a 1st and top 5 salary and JJ already floated to the media that they would tag him so either exclusive or non exclusive was the guaranteed asking price.

Do you always take the first offer a car dealer gives you without countering? In the NFL, if you want someone, you inquire. We didn’t even have one rumor that someone was interested. I find that very telling.
