Every few years, we run a college sports cross-reference y individual schools and conferences using

1) Division 1 All-Sports "Director's Cup" rankings (ave final rank over 5 years)
2) US News and World Report National Universities Academic Ranking

I'm only going to include 6 main conferences that play division 1 football, basketball, baseball, etc.

The average All-Sports rankings, by conference are:
  1. SEC
  2. Pac 12
  3. Big Ten
  4. ACC
  5. Big 12
  6. American

The average Academic Rankings are:
  1. ACC
  2. Big Ten
  3. Pac 12
  4. SEC
  5. American
  6. Big 12

The Combined average of Sport and Academics Ranking
  1. ACC--tie
  2. Big Ten--tie
  3. Pac 12
  4. SEC
  5. Big 12
  6. American

Note: this is just trivia.
The US News rankings are for overall, not specific schools like Med school or Engineering.
The Director's Cup All-Sports Rankings is flawed because it doesn't give more weight tot he power sports.
