In my opinion, the cowboys need to accomplish three things sunday to win:

1) protect the ball no turnovers
2) eliminate the penalties - of course the refs will have a lot to say about that
3) execute - no mental errors.

I know the typical response will be "duh, thanks for stating the obvious Sherlock". The point I am making is that this team is the most talented team across the board in the nfc. In my opinion, the only thing that can stop us from winning is ourselves. Play our game and we will be in the SB.

I BELIEVE!!!!

Real Key to Victory is shutting down two Players: Favre and Peterson. If you can pressure Favre and knock him around and have good secondary play than you take Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin out of the Game along with Favre than key on Adrian Peterson and keep him under 100 yards. So Favre and Peterson is really who they need to target.

This.

Spencer and Ware WILL get to Favre if we force them to pass.

  1. Make the Vikings one dimensional. (that being passing only)
  2. Then pin Ware, Ratliff and Spencer's ears back and attack Favre and make him jumpy in the pocket.
  3. Catch all the interceptions he will begin to throw due to the first two in this list.

Win the battle at the LOS, both sides of the ball.

and do it using only the front seven

the secondary will need all the help it can get against Farve and his receiving weapons...

I think

1- eliminate penalties
2- attack Favre
3- take what the defense gives you

Jerry should distribute souvenir pieces of Texas Stadium to every player, to be brought with them to the Metrodome. That stuff is like kryptonite to Favre.

i think thats the only one that matters. if A.P is a nonfactor. this game is over by halftime.

minnesota will get killed by ware and spencer on the edge. did nobody see what peppers alone did to mckinney?

Sidney Rice concerns me a little. This isn't like shutting down one trick pony's DS and Macklin. They have versatile receivers.

Sidney Rice concerns me a lot. He's Favre's go-to guy and Favre will throw it to him even though he's covered, and he'll make the catch. Our corners have to be ready to expect the ball even when they're in good position and usually the QB would go elsewhere.

when u dont have time to throw it dont matter if u have jerry rice and randy moss on ur team. favre isnt exactly known for patience. u rush him and hes good for 2 ints. and a whole lot of sacks

This is a formidable opponent to be sure.

Offensively they are very balanced leaving no real "key" to stopping them. Most teams rely more on the run or pass. Not the case here. They can win the game with either.
So there's no real key to stopping or at least limiting them other than playing great defense.

We need to respect Favre, Peterson and the rest of their outstanding skill players and understand the match-ups.
We need to mix it up. Blitz some, but not much. Play man and zone.
But I think we're good enough to playem straight. Limit the big plays and makem go 8 plays to score.
We're better than them up front. We should do well against Peterson with a 7 man front and we should get a good pass rush with 4-5 guys.

Maybe I'm way off here, but their defense doesn't scare me at all. I love their DTs but we have the interior OL to handle them. Allen is great, but he's tailor made for Adams. He's a high motor, high effort guy and that's how he gets his sacks. He's not dynamic. He's not the athlete and he doesn't have the burst of a Ware, a Cole or Feeney.
Allen and the rest of that defense really feeds off the crowd noise and use it to their advantage.
We need to come out with 2 TE's and look to pound them with the run. Keep them off balance and stay out of 3rd and longs.
I love our match-ups in the passing game against thier LBs and Secondary.

I'm calling it 34-20 final.

TURNOVERS will be key, this goes back to what Jimmy used to say, its not the number of positive plays you make its about limiting the number of negative ones during the game. Especially in their house, they will feed of that and get the crowd going.

Stop AP and we can make them a one dimensional team and that plays into our hands with Ware, Ratliff, Spencer, Hatcher and Bowen getting after Favre.

Penalties, well you just cannot control that, certain ones just get called more than others.

The offense needs to be balanced and control the clock. I believe when in hostile territory if we can eat clock and limit their chances on offense, then we can dicatate what they can do.

I like your thinking!

I'm not that concerned about Peterson. He'll get his yards and probably score at least once, but what we can't allow is letting Favre get comfortable in the pocket.

If Dallas can get good pressure with 4 pass rushers, and I don't see why they can't, the Cowboys will have a big advantage.

Our offense can and will score on Minnesota. What our defense needs to do is beat up on Favre. Do that, and the Cowboys will win.

1. Win the turnover battle
2. Flozell Adams vs Jarred Allen
3. Minimize Adrina Peterson.

If we can win those 3 area's we will be in a great position.
