3 things we need to improve if we want to win it all

1 A WR that QB is confident to throw to in all situations. Lamb or Gallup may fill that role over the next several weeks.
2 run defense, esp RPO/read option. Need to play it due to 49ers, eagles, etc.
3 penalties. Just coaching, easiest to fix.

It is all fixable, if the effort is put in.

we have everything else, kicker, safeties, pass rush, etc.

Anyone have any names of run stopping DTs or LBs that could be acquired?

realistic trade options that won’t cost a first next year?

I think Cox or Clark (if he's healthy enough to play) could contribute. Carlos Watkins returning also helps.

Cox is known to be weak in run support (but strong against the pass). It’s why he fell to the 4th. Clark is a different story altogether. He is good against the run and has plenty of size. He just needs to be cleared and get some practice in.

I agree with your assessment, but these issues are not new. Penalties have been an issue since Jimmie Johnson left…the Cowboys are just an undisciplined football team, penalties are in their DNA; we have needed a true, run-stuffing DT since forever, yet the FO doesn’t want to invest in one via the draft or FA, but would rather try and fit a square peg in a round hole on-the-cheap; while I admit I don’t know who-did-what-to-whom, I think releasing Amari Cooper set our receiving corps back…we all saw him break the ankles of CBs trying to cover him one-on-one; I don’t think we have a comparable WR on the roster at the moment.

I’m all for improvement and I am a long-time Cowboy fan and would love for them to get back to the playoffs, but these issues have been around for so long I don’t think they will ever get fixed…just being pragmatic.

Qb that can read defenses. Will take off when he doesn’t see something instead of throwing into triple coverage.

1) Give me prime Vince Wilfolk and prime Ray Lewis and this D could be special. 85 Bears or 00 Ravens special.
2) Give me Daks accuracy improvement by 50% more, and have him throw to prime Jerry Rice or Michael Irvin.
3) Eliminate the penalties by having a coach like Jimmy Johnson, Tom Landry, Bill Parcells, or Bill Belichick's discipline.

If the owners and GM can figure out how to get this done, I will believe again that this Dallas Cowboys team can win the Superbowl.

We are not winning a title with Anthony Brown starting....

None that are any better than what we have now. If you want that impact, they will need to trade draft capital, and that is not going to happen.
And it probably doesn't need to happen.

Penalties should have been fixed already since we led the league last year and had 14 in our playoff loss, tying the NFL record.

Yeah, no one really better than Watkins out there that wouldn't cost a fortune.

Think this defense is 1 DT, 1 LB away from being really good to being elite.

Offense needs a burner at WR to threaten opposing defenses, and the OL must keep improving. I wouldn't mind adding a younger back either.
Zeke is solid but not a homerun threat any longer and I think he only declines next season and onward. TP is a good change of pace guy but unproven at being a complete back at this point.

Penalties to need to be reduced, but seem to be a common issue through multiple coaching staffs now. Not sure how they "fix" it.
