This is a thread for people todo some research on....I noticed during games the angst that people have on 3rd and long (and I'm one of them).

The number at the end of the play is the qtr.

Print it out and look at 3rd and long (6 or 7 yards), etc.

It's just interesting to see how many yards the offense is picking up against us.

Having said that, the defense seems to be the bright spot on the team...even though I'd like to see them give up fewer 3rd down conversions.

That is incredibly unacceptable. I think we were just not getting there enough although it appeared Wade was blitzing enough. Perhaps he was blitzing too much. Not saying anything just throwing stuff out there.

Whatever it is it's not acceptable. The only real blight on some really dominating defense.

Offense fails. Defense failing on 3rd down too often.

...the defense gave up 6 points...rinse and repeat...

...they converted 7-15 [47%] for the game...not great but when a team only gets 2 red-zone penetrations in a game the defense has to be doing something right...the Dallas defense has high bendability...it bends but it does'nt break...it has served them well so far and looks to be improving steadily...we must also remember the hobbled Jenkins, and Ball at safety...considering the situations i can't see how the defense plays a better game...when you hold a team to two field goals you should win the match-up 100% of the time...that's if you have at least a competent offense...

...to berate a unit that continues to trend downward in defensive ppg is really nitpicking...if the Dallas offense had been more competent sunday then perhaps the defense would've seen less defensive snaps, been more rested and motivated to keep up their intensity...

On a lot of those third and longs we were purposely giving up the underneath routes and then making the tackle before the receiver could get the first down. That's one reason he was 10 of 10. Good defenses almost bait the safe throw in that situation so they can get off the field.
