If the Cowboys truly take advantage of the RB depth this year, they can ill afford to wait to their late 5th rd picks to land one. We have seen in the past, runs happen and they could potentially be looking at scraps. They must come away with a back before day 3. What are some of the names we are looking at in rd 3?

-Sampson Tenn
-Judkins Ohio State
-Brooks Texas Tech
-Gordon II Okla State
-Moss Texas A&M
-Harvey UFC
-Marks USC
-James Oregon

There are several more. Who does everyone like after Jeanty, Hampton, Johnson, Henderson?

Resign Rico and give me someone that has speed. Henderson, Sampson, Harvey…
I’m moving on from Dowdle, I think he has priced himself off the roster and is not worth above 4 million per season in my opinion.

The run scheme will be important, outside zone, you want one of those speed backs, remain inside zone, want more of a power back who excels at running inside.

We agree 99% of the time but not on Rico. I think he’d be a great grind out yardage kind of guy that would pair really well with a home run threat.

I think we need someone proven at RB in addition to who we draft.

That being said I have no problem drafting 2 RBs so we can move on from Rico after a short term deal.

I rather go with two young backs and keep churning the position every 3 years, it keeps the costs down and add fresh legs. However, I would make an exception for a weapon like a Gibbs where they can impact the game in many ways

over the past 5 years an average of 20 RB's have been drafted per draft.

The talent in this draft is pretty ridiculous. There will be 15 or so draftable RB's that go undrafted.

From OP list, I'd be hoping for Judkins, but after him I'd rank them:
1.Neal
2.RJ Havey
3.Skattebo
4, Mullings
5.Smith (SMU)

Really want one of the Ohio St. RBs.

Yep. Rico is 27 and just had a somewhat breakout season. Rico is a very solid well-rounded RB, but I'm not interested in paying him around $5M per for the next 2 seasons. Regardless of Rico's cost this draft is loaded, so take advantage of RBs on sale, save some money and get 2 young RBs for the price of one good veteran.
#78 (3rd round) salary is $1.1M
5th round pick salary is $927K

The way the position has been that most are just 1 contract players, churn the position every 3-4 years with fresh legs. Unless you land a stud, continue to do this as it will be cost effective and be ahead of the curve. What we do know is, these backs hit the ground running day 1 with little to no development on the next level
