Marion Barber:

The ONLY 2 games where he had over 20+ carries a game

2005
@SEA 22car, 95yds 4.3 avg
ARI 27car, 127yds 4.7 avg

These stats show, that we DON'T know if he will be effective or not if put into the starting role, and be asked to carry 20+ times a game. The 2 times we have asked him, he did well.

They stats also show, as the game goes on he becomes more effective. A typical bruiser back.

theogt: Have to correct you on your 3rd down assumption. It clearly shows he is just as effective on 1st down, 2nd down, and 3rd down.

Well, if you haven't noticed, Barber gets alot more work in the second half. He also gets more work later in drives, near the goal line, when Jones has worn the defense down already.

Part of the reason Barber is so effective is simply because he gets to use his power on worn down defenses. And I'm not knocking his ability to play a full game, but those 2 examples aren't examples of world beaters.

The way it is now, Barber gets to be used when he is the most effective, and it has shown to work.

You say it's not who start's but who finish's??? Well Kinkade finished the last game does that mean he should start. Also i wonder if ppl's in New York say the same thing about Tiki when Brandon comes in inside the red zone and pounds the ball in the endzone and he has like 7 TD'S compared to 1 for Tiki. Know the game of football there Mr. Flair, 53 guys with a place and job to do.

Anyway ...

I don't think you bounce back from the loss we had last week - I really don't, that was a killer and has to still be on the players minds. Close game? you know that whole sideline are gonna be wondering what's gonna go wrong this week...

No Terry Glenn? VERY bad news against a Cagey Zona 2ndary - they can go 1-1 with Hurd or Crayton and Double TO all day ...leaving dump stuff to Witten and JJ -

Roy Williams v.s their WR's ....lookout....

Pat Tillman....that place is gonna be fired up....

Coming off BYE week....the Cards are gonna be fired up...

Dennis Green Calling the plays....He's gonna be fired up and he's a better coach these days than Parcells & Zimmer....

Cardinals due to break streak...

Too much negative stuff against us folks..too much bad karma....not to mention a real AZ crowd for the first time...ever....

29-16 Cards - close game throughout with a tack on 7 late in the game .

We have two very good backs that will continue to share the carries. That's the way BP likes it and no one with any agenda is going to change the way things are setup. Thank goodness he doesn't listen to the fans.. WHEW. Ok. Go ahead and continue with your promote MB3 to a 1 back offensive machine campaign.

Well your clearly dumb, or know nothing about how stats are amassed in the Running game if you dont understand this principal.

--On first and second down most teams put 7-8 men in the box making it very tough to average 3 yards per carry on those downs.

--On Third down most teams put a mere 4-6 players in the box to protect against the run and get the opposing offense off the field.

ITs TIME FOR YOU TO LEARN SOMETHING! he is getting the easy carries on third down when the defense is primarily protecting against the pass. These Carries will warp his stats and make them dishonest.

Although he is the elite redzone and goalline back in the league with a NFC tying 7 touchdowns.

Now try not to just see the stats and facts and acctually use your head!

A lot of Barbers yards come towards the end of the game. I think Barber is being used exactly how he should be used. A change of pace back that has a lot of energy and power. (Think Tiki Barber and Brandon Jacobs)

Everyone is high on Brandon Jacobs right now, and he will fire out of the gates next year when Tiki is gone. After that his production will slow considerable. Jacobs and Barber arn't the same type of back, but they do have similarities. I think Barber is actually more like Steven Jackson or Laurence Maroney except with a more powerful running style with less agility.

Which Barber? Tiki or Marion? Maroney runs with a lot of power. He and Marion Barber are almost identical players with Maroney maybe having some better moves and speed.

I would have no problem with Marion becoming the starter or main guy if he proves he can do well in that role. Right now Julius has proven that he can do well in that role. It is working pretty well right now. I think both guys can actually play just a little better, but I am not complaining.

For the coaches, I would like to see them both in the game at the same time a few plays more. Maybe just 3 or 4 more times a game. And also see both catch more passes.

Of course the offense would really open up if they just put Bledsoe back in the game. The way the line is blocking, Drew would be lighting it up and ensuring his rightful place in the HOF. ;)

Bump

9 ypc

vs.

2.33 ypc

Barber will soon take over this offense with the way JJ has been running
